Guduan is in? we are only down one.... (Crosses fingers) And just like that Astros are now down 3, because Hinch let Bad'Damn pitch. Guduan got pulled after giving up another hit, and Rogers gave up a HR with on his first pitch. So I think Guduan line tonight was 1/3 innning pitched and gave up 3 runs....and the bitch of it was the Astros were only down one run, before the inning started.

Hinch gave the game away when Guduan was brought in. What do they see in him? He is horrible

Yep, 11 ER's in 2 1/3 for last two (so called ) relievers. Seattle must thave thought they were in the twilight zone.
Cueing Rod Serling.

Glad I got a good nights sleep and missed this one. What was AJ thinking putting in Guduan?

Glad I got a good nights sleep and missed this one. What was AJ thinking putting in Guduan? I barely think Hinch wants to use Guduan, but they keep giving the guy to him so I guess he feels he might as well use him to give the others a rest.

On the bright side, the M’s did the bulk of their damage against our crappy retread pitchers so no biggie.

I can understand pitching Guduan in a blow out, but not down by 1 run.

Guduan is not a "Rudy", a feel good story of a guy that just needs a chance
He is a:
Throw it to Lucas. Don't Throw it to Blye!

Sometimes old school thinking doesn't work. Bringing in a struggling lefty to face lefties is worse than leaving in or bringing in an average or better righty.
I know WHY Hinch brought him in, but I just disagree. Poor Rodgers just couldn't stop the bleeding.

On the plus side, our real relievers got a night off.

It's not a question of why Hinch uses Guduan. It's a question of why he was ever brought up after the first (or 10th) blow up, going back several years now. Hes never performed well, but hes always the first guy they think about when there's a spot open. It confounds common sense.

I think it is a "stubborness" mindset that having the tools translates to success.

Has Brady Rogers always sucked, too?

I think they keep hoping Guduan will blossom since he has had good strikeout rates in the minors. The problem is that he also has horrid walk rates. He'll likely get released soon. I wonder why we haven't seen Cionel again. He's had a rough 2019 in AAA, but at least he has shown some success in the past.
And yes, Brady Rodgers is garbage. Him and Guduan are getting up there in age so this probably their last opportunity.

I was hoping Luhnow would take a flyer on Kimbrel to lock down the middle relief.

I was hoping Luhnow would take a flyer on Kimbrel to lock down the middle relief. And at $45M/3 that seems affordable. Imagine a Kimbrel/Pressley/Osuna pen? Relief not seen since Dotel/Lidge/Wagner

I think we need a starter more than we need a reliever.

I think we need a starter more than we need a reliever. True, but not without a trade. Do you think Álvarez is the chip?
