We learned from last night's game that neither Guduan nor Rodgers belongs on this team. Both suck. For a team as good as this one, we are getting by with at least three duds on the roster.......Guduan, Rodgers, and White.

Well, we have a surplus of young OFers right now.... Like I asked bearbryant, who would you target? Well, I've been saying I think we should go after Bumgarner. I don't think he'd be ridiculously hard to get.

It's not a question of why Hinch uses Guduan. It's a question of why he was ever brought up after the first (or 10th) blow up, going back several years now. Hes never performed well, but hes always the first guy they think about when there's a spot open. It confounds common sense. They keep waiting for a return to mean, but he hasn't shown the positive results and apparently they can't understand why. Perhaps they worked on getting it over the plate and now he's catching too much of it. But he's 28 and probably won't be here next season unless he makes a drastic improvement in results. Bad luck only goes so far before you can't call it bad luck anymore.

He'd be a solid-good #3 for us at worst, and potentially better than Cole has been. Plus, the guy has been money in the postseason. And, as he'd only be 30-years old next year, I think he'd be worth trying to sign to an extension to keep another veteran in the rotation with JV (especially since I'm more and more convinced we're going to lose Cole).

Well, we have a surplus of young OFers right now.... Like I asked bearbryant, who would you target? My favorite Candidate is Greinke because he's older, is under contract through 2021 (coincidentally the same as Verlander) and shouldn't cost much in prospects because his contract is near market value. The only thing is whether Arizona thinks they have a run for the playoffs in them between now and then or whether they want to sell assets and retool for the middle of the 2020s.

I’m with Marshall. I’d rather have Greinke. Bumgarner is showing more wear and has extension demands. If I’m giving up a minor leaguer already given the Bonds treatment, I’d better get something really good.

I like me some Greinke also, but that's a lot of salary to add on even if they eat some of it.

It is obvious that we need another starter and.....probably........another reliever. Martin is not ready and Whitley can't be considered at this point. We have what it tales to trade for a Bumgarner, Greinke, or a Stroman. Of those three, my preference is Bumgarner. Why we keep recycling Guduan is a mystery. He has shown NO signs of ever doing the job. Rodgers is also a waste. We need to make a move.

I agree it would cost us at least one core player. However; Correa is not a FA until after both Verlander and Greinke become FAs in 2022. Springer is a FA in 2021 and it would take some finagling. But Reddick and Gurriel come off the books that year. And Cole is likely to be gone next year as well. But we have more Outfielders ready to take inexpensive core roster spots than Pitchers which is a change from what was expected coming into the season.

I think a lot of us here are thinking of 2014 Bumgarner. Just because the man has huge balls doesn’t mean he’d be worth trading a top prospect.
