At least Altuve hit it to the outfield. It's an odd year for him. He normally tends to get some extra hits from bloopers and such, and he continues to not have much success with that. The power looks decent and his walk rate is good. He just has to find a way to get some more hits mixed in. A lot of guys are getting good loft to the ball with not much power behind it. There have been a lot of lazy fly balls hit by our guys.

We have too many guys who want to pull everything and refuse to hit to the opposite field or back through the middle..........Bregman and Altuve are the worst and it creates weak ground balls and popups.

Our need for another quality starting pitcher is very obvious.

Our need for another quality starting pitcher is very obvious. Agreed. I believe the offense will come around with the guys we have once everyone is healthy. Before the season started I thought we would get some help this year from at least one of our top three SP prospects, Whitley, Martin and Bukauskus. Now we find ourselves at mid-season and Whitley has an ERA over 12; Martin looks to be out for the season and Bukauskus has a ERA of 5.97 at AA. Doesn’t look like any help is coming from the farm. Time for Luhnow to work his magic on the trade market.

I honestly think Tucker could be dealt by the deadline.

The Astros do not seem to have top-end OF prospects...I don't think of Alvarez or Beer as outfielders..

Alvarez or Beer are your 1B of the future....but you have a point pitching wise.....Astros need to extend both Cole this upcoming OS, and Springer the following....

I know Luhnow isn’t one to make a big free agent splash, but he might have to do that if Cole tests the market. We don’t know what we’ll get from McCullers. Miley is a free agent again. Verlander isn’t getting any younger. The rotation is far from set. All the young stars in the minors are getting beaten up.
