Currently Jake is 35th on the Astros all-time strikeout list, which is remarkable for a player who has only played a few seasons (five?) with the team. If he actually remained with the team till the end of the year and got normal playing time, he would crack the Top 20 on that list.
Biggio actually has the most K's but relative to his number of plate appearances it was not a problem.

Jim DeShaies actually has the highest career strikeout rate of any Astro with 300 or more PAs at 43.5%.
The next guys on the list are: Darryl Kile, Ken Forsch, Shane Reynolds, and Mike Scott. Jon Singleton is the highest-ranked position player on the list at 36%.
So Jake is actually striking out worse than the worst-hitting of Astros pitchers in history. Just to put his situation in some perspective.

Still can't get that hit when it counts that is two bases loaded and only 1 run has scored. I knew when they said it had 1 GS it wasn't a bad omen.

Problem is who would you trust to Pinch Hit in these situations. No one they have on the bench right now can be trusted to get a hit.
