The reason Ohtani leaving the game with blisters, seems questionable for an issue that usually develops when starting to throw regular in spring training. Especially he was pitching regularly in Japan. It could of been his out knowing he didn't have it last night. Wasn't it Beckett that had continuous blister issues for a good chunk of his career? Yeah I think he did, so did Nolan Ryan who used pickle juice to toughen blisters, I copied the same treatment and it worked.

Not enough work to do for an 8 man bullpen Take the horse blinders off, we only played 18 games, the season is not a sprint, it is a marathon. Fair enough, but the 10-day DL allows a manager to play the active roster like an accordion. If the bullpen starts to get overtaxed, Hinch can go back to an 8-man bullpen pretty quickly. No doubt, the starters aren't going to go 6+ innings 80% of the time for the duration of the season. So far this year, the Astros are 2nd place in MLB in the % of innings pitched by starters at 68%. Only the Indians have had a more durable starting rotation -- that group has pitched 70% of its team's innings. But we should also keep in mind that Cleveland has had a number of postponed games this year (playing 15 games to the Astros' 18) so their starters have gotten a bit more rest.

something interesting about the Angels and why they are likely to cool down real soon is that their bullpen is among the most taxed in MLB. Their pen has had to cover 48% of all innings pitched because their starters don't go too far into games. Eventually that bullpen will wear out.

I think it's obvious the guy can play though. I'm surprised they aren't having him DH more. He can play, but you’d figure pitching once a week would avoid the usual fatigue. It’s not like that bullpen of theirs is underused anyway.

As I have noticed so far all through MLB the 10 day DL has been used with pitching. I might have missed it, but I have not seen it used for regular position players on any regular basis. Long time people that have followed this team, not the bandwagon fans that just joined on know how it killed the chance to advance in 2015, and how in 16 with a good shot the last two weeks of the season blew a chance to make the playoffs because of a burnt out pen.
