Hits: 13 Team LOB: 14 Runs: 2, both driven in by Tyler White
A runner reached in every inning. They’re running out of excuses.

This team has been streaky all year. We had this same issue before the all-star break and then bounced right back up to an 8 game lead in the division. The sky is not falling.
There's no reason we shouldn't win at least a couple of the next few games now that we'll have some normal pitching. Luhnow WILL get pitching help but just don't bitch about the cost. It will cost us...probably a somewhat hurtful amount. Everybody knows we need it.
On the plus side, despite all the injury issues, we've held it together and we've almost got our core back together healthy. We're still in a great position preparing for the postseason.

Seems we are losing an inordinate amount of games recently due to just one pitcher "bombing" If you beleive in the law of averages, this should even out. And yes, like you said getting the lineup healthy and meeting expectations. OTOH, to be a true WS winning threat, I think we need more SP depth.

Don't get me wrong, I do believe we need another legit starting pitcher and always did. But we're not as desperate as everybody thinks. We're still a very good team, and our competition in the postseason don't have the aces we do.

I hate I didn't see them hit Jake. I wanted to see drama. Our team will be just fine, I believe in them 100%

This is still a great team, but the more we keep reassuring ourselves, the A’s keep winning, and they’re not as good a team and keep overcoming their deficiencies to keep winning. They don’t have the luxuries of a Core Four. All I’m saying is I’d like to see more fight and clutch hitting instead of letting themselves immediately look defeated after a terrible 1st inning by Rondón.

Yeah but they're not going up there "not fighting". They're trying to get things done. It just doesn't always happen. I didn't watch the whole game, but I know that Yordan, Stassi, and somebody else hit some rockets in the first couple innings with people on base that just didn't work out. Game of inches. Those get through and we probably have a ballgame. We do need to hit better with RISP, but I don't think it's as bad as some of us make it out to be.

Sad reality is, if White hadn't lucked into a couple of hits our "core four" would have been shut out.

It’s the little things that keep them from scoring: not going first to third on hits, not sending runners to avoid DP’s, righties pulling the ball to infielders with men on base, taking hittable pitches and swinging at bad ones, weak fly balls, etc. Is the situation bleak? No, but it’s been a constant issue all year.

Pitching has been bad but our big hitters...especially Altuve, Bregman, and Brantley have produced nothing with runners on base. We could have won last night with a few key hit in spite of the horrible inning from Rondon.

Bregman hasn't hit well with Men on Base, but the other two: Altuve: .292 Brantley: .313

Altuve has a history of getting a four-hit game and following it up with some terrible at bats.

Altuve has a history of getting a four-hit game and following it up with some terrible at bats. The offense is averaging almost 6 runs per game since the all-star break. I'm not too worried about the offense. Altuve is finally making some progress overall even if it's a little all or nothing, and Bregman is due for a hot streak. They just need to get a couple good games under their belts with the starting pitching settlnig down.

Do you think the return of Correa and Diaz will affect the offense to a significant extent, or would an increase in offense with their return mainly be due to decreased playing time for White?

Yes. Definitely...having them back should get White out of the lineup and DFA'd. I hope they don't keep Kemp and send Straw down, but, I am afraid they will. Getting rid of White and adding Correa and Diaz is a huge plus

I don't understand what you mean. I tbink he means he wonders how much more of Correa's crap do they put up with. If it were me, not much. Correa is already the weakest of the Core Four. He needs to watch it before they kick him out for a cheap replacement like Straw.

I don't understand what you mean. Tyler White, how do we know when he will finally be defeated? We don't. Depending on any trade we make they may want to keep him even more for depth.
