Yes, if we can get at least a #2 pitcher under club control for a couple years.

Interesting.
But now got to wonder how much Correa's stock has dropped with a label of "injury prone"- ness.
He might not warrant Ace trade status.

Call me a OMB-esque conspiracist, but I wonder how much Daniella's influence, and desire for the attention of a NY-LA limelight is comng into play with Correa's decisons and actions.
Am I out of line here?

I am the one that voted for final season...actually I would be open for trading before thenif Nova or another prospect could come in and replace Correa and not be a huge drop off.... Until then I think it's better to stay with Correa at SS. And before people say Bregman just be the SS; I'm not for this, because the Astros, to my knowledge, do not have a top rated 3rd baseman in AAA or AA....

It is not his fault, because of limited time in his life at SS, he just looks like a fish out-of-water at SS. Is Diaz good enough defensively to your legit SS starter for the season? SS is by far the defensive position you should not punt on....

Those guys are all idiots. They talk about how they would trade Correa for Scherzer in a heartbeat. That's stupid. Scherzer's contract is huge and the Nats (or whoever gets him) will be paying him long after he's done pitching.
Value has two components. The performance you get and the salary you pay.
The decision on whether or when to trade Correa depends on what you get, what value that presents, the length of commitment, and the needs of the team. Right now it's looking like Straw could be solid on defense but I doubt he'll be star material at the plate, so the Shortstop role might be filled that way. Or maybe in the longer term, the starting shortstop might be someone else from the farm system. Straw might find himself in a super-utility role, in both the infield and outfield. That would make Marisnick tradeable.
If Correa stays healthy, he brings an elite bat to the lineup and fills a premium defense position. (And that's definitely an if.) I don't think you trade him away at the present time. YMMV.

Would you bank on that enough to offer him a new contract? Depends on the salary. If he repeats this performance next year too? Maybe a 2-year deal at $15-18 million with some performance incentives.

They're not going to trade their starting shortstop during the middle of a pennant race. If they trade him it will be in the off-season.

Correa is frustrating because he creates a cycle of fandom for me. I criticize him, then I root for him, then he gets hurt, repeat.

I'd agree if he had been with us all season. But we've shown we don't need him, but could really use pitching this year and for sure past this year.

I’ve always thought of Bregman as a middle infielder who plays third base due to the seniority of Correa. The offense has its share of good bats. It makes you question how badly they need him.

For me, I think we all believe he will follow the money and go somewhere else (probably LA, NY, or CHI) as soon as he has a chance anyways. We have a great lineup without him, but our rotation could use help now and past this year. If he can get get us that without giving up multiple prospects, I think it should be considered.
