They really stink sometimes. If only we had a wizard-y pitching coach who could use his talents to make these guys develop some skill. We could all give him a cool, ominous-sounding nickname like The TomFather or something.

He had a good year in the pen last year and should have stayed there. He is expendable....Urquidy needs more time in the minors. WE have one of the top pitching coaches in the business.

Now, McHugh should’ve been up to the task of transitioning back to the starting role, but I think messing around with him was a disservice, especially because he was effective in relief last season. I think for him to do this badly, he must still be injured.

McHugh may be DFA'D today. Guy had a sub 2 era last year as a reliever, and now we are talking dfa? If it's a physical problem, I'll agree, otherwise maybe this is something that can be worked out on a technical rehab assignment or something,

I like McHugh but something is off with him in his delivery.

That is why AJ/Luhnow should call him to his office, and offer either a Milb assignment to work on mechnanics, or accept the dfa option

McHugh may be DFA'D today. I think he goes to the IL to activate one of the pitchers we obtained from Toronto.

Exactly. That is why AJ/Luhnow should call him to his office, and offer either a Milb assignment to work on mechnanics, or accept the dfa option What about Stromfather? I like Strom, but having another set of eyes evaluationg McHugh's mechanics couldn't hurt. Also realize that Strom is working with 9 other pitchers trying to keep a winning product on the field. I think McHugh needs some detailed, intrusive review of everything related to his pitching... (eye sight, physical, mental, menchanics, etc.)

All Strom can do is show them the data and suggest which pitches they'd be successful using more or less, and how to increase spin rate. It's up to the pitcher to concentrate and execute with consistency

Perhaps that is a bit harsh, maybe another stint on the IL will get him back in shape for September. No hurt in trying that as we have to pay him anyway.

I don't think they'll DFA McHugh at this point.

Just read that the Angels hope Stassi can help develop young pitchers.
