Osuna is an above average reliever with elite potential (as shown earlier in the season). However, he’s been just plain bad the past month or so, and there was a decent likelihood that he would blow this save. It’s just a shame that managers are so married to their closers that no matter how they struggle, they’re still obligated to use them in the 9th inning. A lot of that is due to the closer’s high AAV.
However, any reliever they use is doomed to struggle with the repeated falling behind in counts. They’ve got to fix that.

I see that Luhnow messed up by not upgrading the closer position. That was the most important spot and he missed it. |

I agree......if Biagini has options, he should be sent down to activate Peacock because Hinch loves Devenski for some reason and they won't DFA Rondon. |

Sisco was hit on purpose. Blummer danced around it at the time without coming out and saying it. He also said he had no problem with it. Said he hoped it doesn't come back to haunt us, but repeated that he didn't have a problem with it. Well, guess what, Blummer. When AJ was asked whether it was deliberate after the game, he didn't answer directly. He responded with a question along the lines of "Why would we deliberately hit a batter who could produce a run in a tight game?" Something along those lines.
I'm almost fully convinced it was deliberate. And if my suspicion is correct, my $64,000 question is, was it worth it?

My question would be if you are going to do it why not to the first batter up. If he had done that then the dude would not of hit the double. Also if you are going to do that why not bring in a scrub like Rondon so that he can be ejected. Of course Rondon could not of done a worse job than Osuna did so WTF. |
