Verlander vs. TBD
Probably cold and crappy in CHI. Hopefully the bats stay hot.
I think we need to leave Altuve in the 2-hole. Since moving him there 3 games ago he is hitting .429 with a 1.000+ OPS. He looks much more comfortable. But no Gattis hitting cleanup...

Shields was originally slated to start for CHW but Reneteria had to use him at the end of a 14-inninger against OAK 2 days ago

Looks like the Pale Hose will let Shields start the game, though he may be on a special pitch count:

Of those hitters, Moncada, Sanchez, Abreu, and Castillo have been their top hitters.
And, if we look back to the Pale Hose' sweep of the Stros last year, those games had the following pitching matchups:
McHugh vs Miguel Gonzalez (McHugh meltdown for 7 runs) Peacock vs Rodon (blown save by Giles) Keuchel vs Derek Holland (Keuchel meltdown for 8 runs)
So of those 6 starting pitchers, only one (Keuchel) is slated for the upcoming series; and Giles is no longer the go-to closer. What happened in August shouldn't be very predictive of what happens this time.

I like me some Jose Abreu. His offensive statistics are pleasing to the eye with their consistency. If his defense wasn't so crappy he'd be a top tier player, imo.

Wow, and Abreu has wrecked Verlander in his career. .500 AVG and 5 HRs in only 35 ABs.

Wow, and Abreu has wrecked Verlander in his career. .500 AVG and 5 HRs in only 35 ABs. The Astros have yet to issue an intentional walk this season. If tonight needs to be the night to use that option, I'm all for it.

In other news, the White Sox stadium is named Guaranteed Rate Field? WTF? Come on....

Shields threw 28 pitches two days ago against Oakland, so I'm guessing the manager will be inclined to pull him after 70 or 80 pitches. They have a couple long relievers on their team (Volstad and some other guy).

I hope our batters are so hot they'll have to use 8 pitchers by the 8th inning!

The Sox got a chance to rest up yesterday but if the Astros could put some pressure on them today, it would help a lot by the time we get to the third game of the series. Even though Reynaldo Gonzalez hasn't had a spectacular career, he is off to a spectacular start to this season. That actually looks to me like the hardest game of this series.

I think it's better the Astros didn't rest. Keep running with the hot streak.
Watch them decide to rest Altuve after he has two multi-hit games...

Hopefully the offense can get to Shields. No strike 3’s looking.

Remember in 2006 when Preston Wilson struck out 5 times in a game

Hopefully the offense can get to Shields. No strike 3’s looking. Correa just watched strike 3 right down the middle. Blah.

Squeezing the zone already. Gameday had ball one well within the strike zone.

Wow Fisher covered some ground there. I thought that was a hit for sure off the bat.

I couldn't tell if people were cheering Reddick for running that out, or mocking Moncada for being lazy

Shields has given up more walks than he has recorded strikeouts this year. Astros need to take advantage of all the men on base.
