81-46 .638 Winning % (On pace for 103 Wins) 8 games up in the division 2 games behind the Yankees for best in the AL and MLB Team ERA+: 121 Team OPS+: 119
Verlander vs. Norris
JV has been sitting on Win #15 for a while now. Let's get him over the hump and back on track for that 2nd CY.

Sneed and Straw. Correa expected to miss a month. I expected Correa tp go on the IL. Anytime Hinch says he's "day to day" I know he is headed to the IL. It won't happen, but, I hope Correa in 2020 that he is taking his in-season vacations as a member of another team. Since I think he loves the Yankees, I'd trade him to the Mets.

Sneed and Straw. Correa expected to miss a month. That's good. That gets him back in time to get warmed up for the postseason. Hopefully he'll be good and healthy for the postseason (and effective) and then we can trade him in the offseason while his stock is high.

Sneed's been okay so far. Nothing special, but okay. I fail to see the need for Sneed.......We have McHugh, Peacock, Smith, Rondon, Devenski, Harris, Pressly, and Osuna. Why do we need 9 relievers? We put Sanchez on IR so we need another starter so bringing up Valdez or using Peacock makes sense. Correa should be replaced with Straw. Send Mayfield back and bring up Tucker or Toro. Send Sneed back and bring up a starter if necessary. The problem being that we have no decent starting pitcher in the minors to bring up.

Our bullpen has been over worked the last couple weeks so this allows us to try and give some people more rest.

His minor league numbers are not that great. He can be counted on in mop up situations. I would not use Sneed if it meant losing a game. I am not belittling the need for healthy players but we need home field advantage and we won't get it using ineffective pitchers.

I would not mind seeing others go on the injured list for rest purposes. Start putting a bunch of tired players on the IL and we donate home field advantage to the Yankees which probably means no World Series. The answer is for the offense to start producing like it should to take pressure off the pitchers.

Sneed's minor league career doesn't impress me either, but the majority of our remaining games are against teams under .500. We don't need to use our best guys against them often. Let guys like Sneed go out there and mop up some stuff.

An elite professional athlete should not need to be placed in the injured list for "rest". If their conditioning has fallen so far, they need to reduce the number of games in a season.

It's just a way to give them some time off while bringing up others to get some work. Why not get your guys as ready as possible for the postseason?
Cal Ripken Jr. played all the time and was really good and he's an iconic figure with unparalleled work ethic, but there's no telling how good he could have been if he hadn't played when sick, hurt, and tired.

Amen......you are preaching it like it is. I often wonder what type of conditioning these guys do during the season. We gave Keuchel "rest" on the IL and he went dowmhill fast. I wonder what kind of program Correa is on to help prevent these back issues. The IL is for injured players........not for rest. i have no problem with declaring an ineffective player as being injured and placing him on the IL to get some extra work to correct problems and give other guys playing time.

If anything, players these days are in better shape and healthier than they've ever been. But that's because sports medicine has come a long way. Part of that is that rest is important. Verlander supposedly gets 10 of a sleep a night as part of his regimen.

I've never known a manager to rest starting position-players as much as Hinch does
But we've won 20+ games in consecutive Septembers, so it's hard to argue with the results

Tigers got Norris and Boyd when they dealt David Price to Toronto 4 seasons ago, but Norris was considered the diamond prospect of the two at the time

Verlander supposedly gets 10 of a sleep a night as part of his regimen. Players today are not close to being as tough as they were 20 or more years ago, especially pitchers. Starting pitcher used to work 300 or more innings in a four man rotation and didn't have near the injury problems as today's pitchers. Today's pitchers think they have a big work load if they pitch 200 innings. Nobody used to mention "pitch count". Now, we get a running commentary on it during each game. Ryan, Seaver, Charlton, and those guys had no pitch counts. Most of today's pitchers are wimps when compared to them.
