It seems that AJ wanted Yordan Alvarez on the Astros 25-man roster before they left for Tampa Bay to open the season,. but, the geiuses who had the final say opted for "more experiened" players like Tyler White. Tony Kemp, and Jake Marisnick. Yordan produced more the first week he was here than the departed duo of Fat Ass White and Leg Humper Kemp did the entire time before we managed to get rid of them. Jake stayed on for defensive purposes, but. as bad as he has been overall offensively, Jake still out-produced the two departed duds. White and Kemp. Yordan's combined stats from RR and Houston are 47 home runs and 143 runs batted in......I wish we knew what his numbers would be with the Astros if AJ had gotten his way and Yordan would have been here from the beginning. www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/texas-sports-nation/astros/article/Astros-insider-Yordan-Alvarez-rookie-record-14426853.php

There are baseball moves and there are business moves. They don't always mix. Ended up fine in the end.

From a fan's perspective having Yordan here all year would of been fantastic. Who knows what the kid would of done if he had the full season to work with. As it sits he will most likely have over 30 home runs and close to 100 rbis in just 4 months of baseball versus the full 6.
From a business and looking at the long term it is much better that he came up in June. It gives the team another year of control and helps keep us below the cap in 2023. So no doubt about it, he is going to be a legendary hitter if he stays healthy and keeps his head on straight. He will become or version of Big Papi.

I'd say that is a shrewd business move. I want Jordan for as long as possible.
Oops. Looks like m240 is thinking the same thing.

Luhnow's an idiot. His gaffes have cost us the division title and we won't be competitive for home-field advantage. Plus our team OPS just sucks and Luhnow did nothing to improve the team except sit on his ass. Oh, wait...

f you're onfield guy like Corch and AJ, it's difficult to put your personnel hat on. You want the best players on the field right away and let the future take care of itself. The business guy looks to the future and may mot make his moves in a timely manner.
I like the Astros mix of Luhnow and AJ with ownership giving them latitude to do their jobs.

I am sure the extra year of control played a large part in the decision not to keep him at the beginning of the season.

My point is that I wish we could know what Yordan would have given us while we wasted time on useless garbage like White.

It's the business rules they have to play under, unfortunately.

I'm debating going to bed and seeing if the Astros can make a comeback like last time they were 7 runs down only to wake up and see they won.
