Seems there are two options, that both have pros and cons....... Start with a weakened Twins squad, or fight it out with A's, who have been giving us fits lately.

No option for me..........go for #1 to avoid a game 7 at Yankee Stadium

Side question......
If it comes down to the wire, do we use JV or Cole (in their normal rotation spot) on the last day of the season to win home field advantage?
There I vote no. Go into the ALDS with guns blazing.

We’re not worried about the A’s and home field advantage doesn’t matter, so option C, let the A’s win the division and we take WC spot number 1.

I chose option 2. Go big or go home.

Go into the ALDS with guns blazing. I would have to give that some thoght. Our last game is against the Angels and we should be able to win without using one of those two guys.. The problem there being if you lose that game yoo don't get home field and blow the chance to start the pitcher in games one or two.

I'd go with JV-Cole-Greinke in the ALDS, and JV-Greinke-Cole in the ALCS and WS. JV and Cole are so similar it would be nice to break up the approaches in a 7-game series. And if any of the 7-game series we go up 3-0, I think you have to give Miley a start and take the opportunity to rest the big guns in case we need them.

Worrying about the A's catching up to us in the regular season with such a huge lead is different from worrying about facing them in a 5-game series.

It would be nice to have the number one seed, but as History goes in the playoffs, it is the team that has the hot iron when the bell rings. The 2001 Mariners proved that.

1. First division crown 2. First playoff-series win 3. First MLB pennant
4. First World Series win
all happened on the road. We were the better team that day, and it didn't matter the games were in Dodger Stadium, Busch Stadium & Turner Field We answered the bell and our opponent didn't

It’s kind of like drafting. Not every first overall pick ends up being Chipper Jones. Sometimes, you get Matt Bush.

They sulked their way out.

Go into the ALDS with guns blazing. The way it's scheduled, even if Cole pitches the last day of the season, Verlander will be on 6 days rest to start the Division series and Cole will be on 5 days rest. There is no need to give them rest and break up their routines any more than necessary. But I do think we'll see no more than 6 innings from here to the end of the season. I think that's why Verlander was pulled.
