He’s an outfielder for the Kansas City Royals who leads the American League in home runs, tied with Mike Trout. Yeah, I didn’t really know who he was either.

Another factoid.... He's leading the league with 164K's as of now. 44 HR's and batting .257. Sounds like a reincarnation of Dave Kingman.

Back in the olde days he'd be worshipped by our fathers and grandfathers for his HR and RBI prowess, regardless of his shitty defense and good-but-fairly-pedestrian OBP.

Everyone hated Carter, but I didn’t mind him. What was surprising was how much more people liked Gattis. They were both defensively useless power hitters.

How could you be okay with Carter but you hated Gattis? Because of his prodigious power, inability to GIDP, and because he wasn’t talked up like Gattis.

his OPS+ says different

Post by Saint on Sept 20, 2019 12:18:15 GMT -6
Yes, his 130 OPS+ is only 4% worse than Altuve's 134, but that's just offensive production. His defense is so poor it almost cuts his entire value in half.
Again though, he's having a good season. Just not a great season. Altuve isn't having a great season for him either. (He's having a great 2nd half though.)
