And the Fisher vs. Marisnick battle continues... marisnick wins on having the highest IQ...Fisher isn't the brightest pea in the pod.

Damn it. Marisnick hit a hr and made a running catch...now everyone will be back on his nuts acting like he’s Babe Ruth Kind of like when a run scores because Gattis didn’t hit it hard enough for a double play.

How about that Giles starting to come along? If we get him going again after last postseason, it's almost like picking up a new legit reliever.
And I think Altuve breathed a sigh of relief with that dinger.

I wonder how much Machado will cost whoever-takes-him though. He's earning $16 million on a one-year contract this season, and he'll be FA in 2019. I'd imagine he fetches one top prospect (National Top 100 list) and a couple of guys who don't make the National Top 100 but are somewhere on their current team's Top 30 list. That's probably still too expensive for the Astros, but it sure would be nice to have a reliable bat to replace Gattis at DH... and Machado has not only hit for 119 OPS+ over his career, but he is off to a torrid start this year and at 26 years old, he likely hasn't hit his peak yet.

I am glad the Astros are not in need of him....they need a veteran LF bat, a clutch bat and someone to help in the pen.

I wish we could get Adrian Beltre from Arlington to DH on a short-term basis.

I think Beltre would work out well and wouldn't cost too much. I also think trading for Kelvin Herrera makes sense to replace Sipp in the bullpen.
Fangraphs views Arizona, Cleveland, and St Louis as the most likely landing spots for Machado. If a package of Alvarez, Arauz/Toro, and Ferrell/Celestino could get Machado through the end of 2018, that would be tempting. The Orioles could just keep Machado till the end of the year but it would not be in their long-term interest.
right now, Alvarez is ranked #44 on the Fangraphs MLB Top 100 Prospects list. The Cards have Alex Reyes at #16 and the Indians have Francisco Mejia at #17. If the Cards/Indians are prepared to part with either of those two guys, maybe they get Machado after throwing in a couple of more fringe prospects. However if Reyes and Mejia are declared off-limits by their teams, or their teams just aren't interested, then Alvarez might suddenly look enticing to Baltimore.
Arizona's top prospect on the list is Jon Duplantier, way down at #88. Even if they are willing to trade Duplantier, Baltimore probably still comes out better with Alvarez.

Also, Beltre just went on the 10-day DL with a hamstring strain. He might be better suited to a role of DH'ing half the time and starting in the field only half the time to reduce the strain on his aging body... in other words keep it in shape for the postseason. The emergence of this Kiner-Filefa kid for Arlington might make it easier for the Rangers to part with Beltre.

I doubt the Rangers would make a deal with us, but you never know. Career .805 OPS with RISP and he's still good defensively when healthy.

Beltre is someone like Pujols that has always tormented us. It would be a very good deed for the morons up north to do for Beltre to trade him to the Astros. Beltre, like Beltran is/was a true professional and deserves a shot at a title.

Beltre might be the droid we’ve been looking for. Put him at 1B and Gurriel at DH.

I figured that since he’s still a quality defender at 3B, he’d be an upgrade at 1B over Gurriel. I’m also not sure either can play LF.

If we're just throwing things out there for the sake of argument. If we picked up Beltre we could do this:
Springer CF Altuve 2B Correa SS Beltre 3B Gurriel 1B Reddick RF Bregman LF McCann C Gattis/White DH

If somehow could get Beltre to sign for one more year after this year, I would be up for moving Bregman off 3b...but if not, Beltre could be 1b....Gurriel could be LF or DH....Marwin super utility...and I guess Gattis part-time DH, and ever so often catch.
