I think Marwin should be DH and Yuli should play LF That would take away the advantage of Marwin’s versatility.

It's interesting that he has been very good on the road but downright ridiculously horrible at home. Look at these splits:
Home: .067/.125/.067 Road: .302/.400/.488

A lot of fantasy sites over rank him because of his catcher status...to me, a DH should have a great batting eye...a guy you should not want to face, as opposed to a guy where you look forward to facing, because he lowers your WHIP and increases your K total.

Yeah but the guys that are our best hitters are also our best fielders, so what do you do?

I can't believe you guys would give up the great 3b defense that we are getting from bregman.

Sherwin put Bregman in LF....I am on board only if Beltre would sign for another year upfront....If not, then don't mess with Bregman...I looked up defense rankings, by what I could tell, Beltre grades out higher at 3b....

Bregman currently at -.2 dWAR while Beltre is at .3 dWAR. Not that I'm meaning to knock Bregman, he has the speed and a solid arm to be a good LFer I would think.

It’s not his fault, though. His better positions are SS and 2B, but he’s about as blocked as I am from playing there.

I don't understand. If we got Beltre, wouldn't he start mostly as DH and just relieve Bregman at 3B?

If we're just throwing things out there for the sake of argument. If we picked up Beltre we could do this: Springer CF Altuve 2B Correa SS Beltre 3B Gurriel 1B Reddick RF Bregman LF McCann C Gattis/White DH Sorry BFAM, it was Todd....you commented right below him about Gattis....I misrembered.

We need help at DH and LF. Unless Guriel can play LF I wouldn't take him off !B. Of course, you might let Guriel DH and try either Beltre or Bregman at 1B. Then you could pick up an OF bat or slide Springer to left and let Marisnick play CF strictly for defense. I'm confident that Hinch would find a way to make it work.

The problem with adding a bat and keeping Marisnick in the lineup for defense is that you only get a marginal increase in offense instead of a significant one. It kind of defeats the purpose.

The upside is that you get a hitting DH. It makes sense. Marisneck is just a place holder who at least adds defense until we either call up an OF or get one in the numerous fire sales which will probably be occurring at the trade deadline. The Astros have started a trend of complete overhauls rather than gradual improvement.

I guess I can handle Marisnick as a 9th hitter if that means Gattis and Fisher are both out of the lineup.

The first Bregman experiment in LF didn't work out well.
