It might be a long winter for Dallas. He is not pitching like a top-of-the-rotation starter anymore, but I’m sure that is the kind of money Boras will be demanding for him. You are right, not going to get the Boras discount on anything.

It’s hard to watch Keuchel’s starts. Over and over with the junk pitches hoping for a bad swing. If his performance doesn’t improve drastically over the course of this season, I think Dallas is going to be disappointed with the offers he gets in free agency this offseason compared to what he is expecting. Today on High Heat they were mentioning how the Cubs might have got spoofed on signing Darvish over resigning Arieta, and paid the price on a bigger contract. This game is a blow out now.

Jed Lowrie with a triple? Shouldn’t he be injured or something?

Keuchel is no better than the #4 pitcher in the Astros rotation. No way will he get top-of-the-rotation money from Houston this offseason.

I've thought all month long that Keuchel would be the first starter to go on the DL... maybe it happens after this game, and McHugh takes the vacant spot in the rotation.

It’s a shame he hasn’t shown the ability to adjust to this. Therein lies his real value and why the trade for Cole was partly made.

Astros have been beating up on weak teams and getting strummed by the good teams so far. Right now I’m thinking my 14-14 prediction for May could be overly optimistic. Our boys don’t appear to be ready for prime time.

Our boys don’t appear to be ready for prime time. It revolves around Altuve. When your best player is struggling to get XBH, your offense is highly impaired. Marwin is looking a little fluky, Gattis is Gattis, and they’re relying on Marisnick. That’s just really bad. On a positive note, so many are producing at mediocre levels that the offense can’t really do any worse.

I mentioned a week or two ago that I am guessing that DK doesn't even make the post season rotation. I thinking this is more and more likely now.

I think he's #5 in this rotation and is not pitching like a guy who expects a big contract at the end of the season. No doubt in my mind that Luhnow traded for Gerrit Cole partly because they have no plans to offer Keuchel what Boras will ask. Having McHugh is also a plus since he is capable of stepping into the rotation later or now if necessary. Dallas sailing along and then completely lost it. The A's hitters concentrated on making contact and not over-swinging. If our hitting continues as it is now, we are in trouble if we expect to win the division.

The Yanks tied it up, and the vaunted Angels pen is Scioscia's candy store. That will end up being their Achilles heel.

Angels six pitchers tonight, that pen will be folding by the end of June. I"m 90% sure of that too... my only concern is they will make trades at the deadline that somehow recharge that bullpen. There will probably be some good arms available in July: Santiago Casilla (A's pitcher in today's game), Kelvin Herrera, Corey Gearrin... so hopefully Anaheim doesn't manage to get any solid extra help this summer.

They have had one of the worst farm systems in MLB the last few years, the last time I checked they have improved, but if they are rushing players to the bigs, that is not a formula for success. Depends how desperate they get will they trade what value they have.

I’m happy that the Angels lost, but that doesn’t lessen the worry about the current conditions of the team.

I suspect Dallas won't be signing early in the FA season.
At this point, he might be the seventh best starter after Verlander, Cole, Morton, McCullers, McHugh and Peacock. But everyone struggles at times. I hope this is a brief bump in the road and not the beginning of a steep decline.

LMAO, it's hilarious how the forum has turned against Dallas since it started being rumored that this might be his last season with Houston. Acknowledging that I didn't watch the game last night, I think there's something else at play here. With Fiers gone naturally there's someone else who'd become the rotation punching bag with some. Keuchel won a CY in 2015 of course, but outside of that season his career hasn't been elite compared to Fiers by any stretch. They're both finesse pitchers that rely on bad swings, and they totally exhaust the defense trying to field behind him

Which leads the hitter will wait him out and is pounding his mistakes.

Fiers was an example of someone whose outings were frustrating to watch despite the board pretty much being against him from day one
