Because we’d have to keep the Yankees from scoring after we score. That’s much harder to do considering our hitting with RISP this series and the fact that the Yankees have a supposedly deeper bullpen. So you're assuming we wouldn't have scored any additional runs and also that we couldn't hold them one more inning? You knows the odds of that are slim, right?

I'm predicting the Astros come out super confident and put up a crooked number early. I don't know if it will be enough to last, but they're due for some big runs today.

So far you've been spot on with your assessment of Altuve being the guy to lead the offense. Hopefully it continues. I'd love to see him win a postseason award in a year he wasn't at his best for a good chunk of time.

If we do try to hit to the opposite field off Tanaka, it will be the first time this season most of them have taken that approach. Springer, Correa, and Yuli have all shown power to RF and the short fence at Yankee Stadium could be used. Let's hope Altuve stays hot instead of trying to pull Tanaka. We have had success against him in the past. We need to put up runs. I don't expect Greinke to shut down the Yankees.

I don't understand why Tuve stands so far off the plate.

If Astros can pull out a win tonight, I would think it ends Saturday... They need to layoff Tanaka's low pitches. They need to wait back on everything. Try to go oppo. The majority of the Astros regulars have decent career numbers vs Tanaka. The guys are capable of putting up some runs against him. They just need to not be over anxious and trying to kill the ball with every swing. I agree with you. If every batter will go to the plate looking to take him opposite field, they are less likely to be flailing away like they did in game 1. They can lay back and he doesn’t have the velocity to blow the ball past them if they do. They should take the small ball approach and not try to pull/drive every pitch out of the park. He is the kind of pitcher who will exploit them, if they take that approach. Weather forecast is now calling for wind in the 15 mph range blowing out to CF. One would think this might create more movement on Greinke’s and Tanaka’s pitches, but if they hang one, it could leave the park. Should be interesting.

The aggressive approach that they took in game 1 did not work so being patient seems to be the most logical thing to do.

The weather report shows that it will be 53 degrees at game time with westerly winds at 13 mph. That should help keep the ball in the park. I thought the stadium was oriented West-->East, meaning the wind would be blowing out toward CF? Unless you mean the low temps knocking the ball down.

Both our arguments are similar, but I just don’t think they win a long extended offensively challenged game on the road the way they’ve been hitting with RISP. Still only one hit this series in those situations.

For the Astros, I think he is their toughest out, followed by Torres LeMahieu was the one I feared the most on the team because he makes the pitcher work. However, I think Torres is the scariest hitter. He’s the only player in baseball with 10+ homers high, middle, and low.

I'm wondering how anyone thinks this rain delay was GOOD for the Yankees.
First off, the same pitchers will have to pitch in this series regardless if it goes at least 6 games. Either game #5 or #6 will be a bull pen day for either club.
Secondly, the Yankees bullpen is better than the Astros and we are not good with the opener anyhow, so now we can delay that for a game or two and try to take a 3-1 or 3-2 lead before that happens.
If the Astros had a bullpen day yesterday there's a higher probability that the Yankees would be tied 2-2 with Greinke up next.
