The "It's always someone else's fault" society in full swing. It's kinda like the Astros players saying "If Hinch or someone in charge had told us to quit cheating, we would have quit!!"

It looks like everyone from Luhnow to the custodians was, at the very least, aware of the sign stealing program and yet nobody did anything to stop it. Since the COB granted the players immunity, they are apparently untouchable. If Crane had immediately fired everyone in the FO who was involved, there would be nobody left. Now that the new GM and manager are in place, I think we are going to start seeing other FO personnel relieved of their duties beginning with Goldstein.

That's what I told Sherwin the other day. Crane can't fire them all, two weeks before the season starts. You have to have a front office. There are usually a few token firings/arrests (i use the example of Enron...the corruption there ran deep, but only a few tokens were arrested). They will fire those most involved, a piece at a time. But I bet they won't fire them ALL, because they liked the results (even if they can't admit it).

But I bet they won't fire them ALL, because they liked the results (even if they can't admit it). There was a time a while ago where I took over an operation where the Division Manager was someone who lacked moral fiber. He had stolen a lot of money from the company and there were several folks who assisted him. It was questionable whether the assistance was intentional, a twisted thought process similar to an abused spouse, or just a blind obedience to authority. It took a while to sort though who fell into each category. All were terminated but were handled differently. It took less than 90 days and everyone was gone and replaced with someone untarnished by the scandal. If it is all done at the same time then it makes the press as another big deal. If it is done piecemeal then it can be spun as a shake up due to new management and a shift in strategy. My guess is that in 90 days we will hire new scouts and new front office folks and we will hear about our GM putting his brand on the front office.

Why change something that has been working for such a long time? Must be about the money..... totally about the money.

Now that this clown has filed a suit claiming the Astros sign-stealing ruined his career, every worthless loser who took the mound in 2017 or 2018 will be blaming thw Astros if they are demoted or released. It's total lunacy, I am sure the Astros were the only team to hammer Bolsinger. He needs to sue them all

White and Stassi should sue for the maximum amount if there is one and Kemp can sue because the sign-stealing caused him to start humping legs. Fiers is out of luck because he sucked when we had him which is why we got rid of his sorry ass. I hope some of our young outfielders took advantage of having one of the top defensive outfielders in the game around to show them how to do their jobs. I hope players we traded didn't use Altuve's example of baserunning or he will get his ass sued several times.

Crane deciding to demote Reid Ryan should tell us that Crane knew there were problems in the front office and didn't want Reid to stick around to talk about it. Gives credence to Crane covering up crap that was going on in the FO. Things are bad enough to warrant his removal as owner. If they wanted to “purge” the toxic atmosphere by terminating Hinch and Luhnow, I don’t see why Crane is above reproach. Crane is probably on a probationary period where he has to check the front office's moves with the commissioner first

You may think they're being spineless and that there's nothing to apologize for, but you might as well get used to it. I guarantee you that every agent out there (and probably the commissioner's office) is telling these dudes to apologize and to try to save face. A player who cheats, gets caught, and is unrepentant is going to suffer in his career and in contract negotiations. That's just the facts of life when you throw away your morals and cheat. Now they're trying to mitigate the damage to their bottom line. Marwin is a prime example...he partook of the cheating and had a career year in 2017, and was rewarded with a contract that he doesn't really deserve. What GM is going to want to deal with him now?

So far all I have seen is former players apologizing. Has anyone that is still an Astro bent the knee.

You are probably right in all you said. Something else our players can get ready for if the guys on MLB network are correct is that pitchers are going to throw at some of our hitters to see how we react. I don't think we should just turn the other cheek. Our pitchers have got to retaliate to protect our hitters. I also think we can expect some bias from umpires. Whatever we have to deal with is what we brought on ourselves. Makes me vomit to think of how Hinch could have stopped it if he had only had the balls to put his foot down. I also wonder if he failed to stop it because of orders from the highers up who helped instigate it.

I’m curious as to why you think it’s spineless to apologize for violating rules established by MLB?

Marwin Gonzalez is a prime example as to why the cheating was significant. People say it’s no big deal and to get over it. He parlayed his success in ‘17 into a guaranteed contract from the Twins. If that isn’t unfair, I don’t know what is.

As far as I know, only former Astros have apolotized.....I have yet to hear Beltran apologize and he was up to his head in it. The only apologies I have heard came from an asshole like Keuchel, Morton, and Marwin.

I’m curious as to why you think it’s spineless to apologize for violating rules established by MLB? He is no longer an Astro and apologized hoping he won't be a target like our current players. He used it to get millions and now he wants to hang the team who helped him get it. Screw the lazy bastard.

Supposedly it's about to be released that Beltran was the main guy leading and promoting the cheating. More to come from Rosenthal.

I wonder if he taught the Yankees this "skill" while he was there. I don't know, but it's interesting since so many people said that losing Beltran was why we weren't the same team in 2018... And looking back, there were a lot of fans that said we should have brought him back for his "clubhouse influence". Haha. The article is on The Athletic now, but I'm not going to purchase a subscription. I'm sure a free version will be out soon.

I'm not normally one for drama, but this is getting interesting. I find it hard to believe that Beltran picked up all of this completely on his own during his ONE season with us. And I'll be surprised if he takes all of this without releasing his own information.
Not that it makes everything go away, but it does make me feel a little better about our homegrown guys and McCann.

By the way, some mongoloid chose #ForTheH as our team's motto this season. I just saw the motto at Astros.com. After this offseason a more appropriate motto would be #WhatTheH
