It blows my mind how stupid Goldstein was in having a paper trail telling his personnel to basically cheat. That’s just astounding to me.

Interesting twist. Yuli was making $10.4M in 2019 so he likely would have made more through arb. It's rare that a player takes a pay cut in arb even if he stinks (which Yuli didn't in 2019).
Also, his final arb year would have been 2021 without this contract.
Apparently he wants to get to FA, asap.
The 2021 season could be very different. We’d better make the most of it while we can. The entire outfield, plus Jork, plus Yuli, plus Peacock and Sanchez will be FA in 2021.
Will the Astros try to remain competitive in 2021 or blow it up early and sell off the remaining good pieces for prospects to shorten the rebuild time? Too early to say. But it's possible.

It makes sense for Yuli to want to get out a year earlier. Better chance of getting a decent contract as a FA if he is a year younger.
As long as the Astros have Bregman and Altuve signed to long-term deals, they're not going to tear things down and rebuild. We may soon fall into the good-not-great territory soon though. Depends on how many (if any) of our younger pitchers and OF prospects can step up.

As they lose free agents next year they free up cap space to sign additional new free agents or use some of the lesser youngsters and have them become decent mlb players.
Having a line up with Altuve, Bregman, Alvarez, and hopefully Tucker is a pretty good start.
