Ken Rosenthal just tweeted that the Mets are close to acquiring Marisnick. The Mets are giving the Astros two prospects. If they both either one has a pulse, the Astros won that deal. lol

I am sorry. Depending on where you are in the Rio Grande Valley it's not so bad. I've been here since 2005. It's mostly a shit hole. But moving from here would likely remove a 0 from the end of my paystub. That pay stub always has a lot to do with it. I stayed at a school about two years longer than I wanted to due to a pay stub. I got lucky and got a chance to get out.

I keep seeing that we are interested in trading for Wilson Contreras from the Cubs........Seems to me like we need to be focusing on trading for pitching. Chirinos and Stubbs make more sense behind the plate than trading for another catcher. Spend the money on extending Springer and signing or trading for a starting pitcher. Upgrading the catching position would be nice but it is not as urgent as Springer and pitching.
The Cubs will want our best young pitching prospects in a deal for Contreras and we cannot afford to give them up.

A little earlier this off season I saw some speculation on Contreras for Correa as headliners on a deal.

10:27am: Houston will receive left-hander Blake Taylor and outfielder Kenedy Corona in return for Marisnick, ESPN’s Jeff Passan tweets. Taylor was on the Mets’ 40-man roster after having his contract selected last month and will now go on Houston’s 40-man roster.

A little earlier this off season I saw some speculation on Contreras for Correa as headliners on a deal. I don't keep up with other teams or their players. Is Contreras in the same "value" range as Correa? He has 3 years left of control, should cost about 4.5 million this year, had an ops just short of 900 last year. Not sure about his defense but the offense would be a plus. I think that we could get a little more than just him for Correa. As far as pitching I expect the Astros to swing a deal for Ray of the Diamondbacks. They will want a couple of our guys for the last year of his control. Players mentioned so far this winter as in play in that trade include Urquidy who I would not want to include, as well as Armenteros, Martes, and Abreu, all of whom I would include. They also want Toro but if we trade Correa then Toro has to stay here.

A starting line up of starters that include Ray could be
Verlander Grienke Ray McCullers Urquidy
That would be a strong group of starters.

So far this off season we have dropped 10 million from the payroll without reducing our talent level. Trading Correa to the cubs and 3 minor leaguers for Ray would shore up most of the weak points in the roster and still have us down on our payroll overages by about 4 million. So that would be a solid start to things.

Also a Deal of Carlos Correa and a Player to the Cubs for Wilson Contreras,Ryan Jensen and Jack Patterson would work.
Carlos Correa is a Better player then Contreras. But Wilson is in more of a premium postion then Carlos. Plus we already have a Replacement on the roster. And if they so choose which IDK Straw can play there aswell as Diaz. But I beleive Toro must stay with the Astros and get a shot out the gate to start
