I have a few questions about Collins: 1. Is he good enough to start in the majors? Grandal was brought in to the White Sox plus McCann was re-signed so how much does that team believe in him? 2. We have Garrett Stubbs, who’s in the same predicament so don’t we need more of a starter? 3. What would bringing in Collins mean for Korey Lee? Isn’t he the catcher of the future? For some reason they want Stubbs to take some infield reps this OS. No matter where they put him, he’d better hit or else he’ll be AAA fodder like Super Jack.

The 3rd thing that doesn't make sense to me about Correa is why management insists he pick up grounders as a middle infielder if he has lower back issues Unless they don't having any intentions of even trying to keep him once he is a free agent (or earlier).

Good points on Collins, but I think the White Sox are a good candidate for wanting Osuna and maybe Reddick. They want to fortify their pen and are looking for an OFer.... So, I hope the Astros can make a deal that works for their needs: pitching, catching and OF prospect

I don’t buy the theory that Correa is being intentionally reckless with his health in the middle of the season because he wants the Astros to trade him before free agency so bad that he’s willing to lose pay in arbitration via not getting the qualified #PAs. Because he has a gold-digging girlfriend who wants more money? That doesn’t make sense to me If the front office trades to Correa to the Mets before the winter breaks then I’ll concede the point. Cause it’ll demonstrate to me Luhnow knows his attitude problem is so bad that it’s ruffling the clubhouse Absent that, I’m not led to believe anything beyond the fact that she’s a pest to the point of embarrassment, and he’s a good kid who tries hard despite being real unlucky with the injury bug I don’t think Correa is intentionally reckless, but as a fact we know that he is injury prone so it is imperative to consider that when deciding who soldiers through into the future. Imperative....Nice.

Needs more dominos. The Salarys are what the White Sox would baulk at. We would have to eat something or take on something. Then we create two holes in the Bull Pen. I dont know much about Collins

After some research I would lean towards we are over paying for him.
I think he can play C but might be more suited for 1B or DH. But he is in a spot where its make or break for him. He may have two more years to prove he has what it takes to stay behind the plate but reality would be he moves to 1B or DH. And may never make it in the Majors

So I was looking at your deal and would lean towards a Deal like this.
Josh Reddick (Astros pay 7m), Chris Devenski, Rogelio Armentaros and Jayson Schroeder for Jonathan Stiever and James McCann.
But that would be me. We would essentially be moving some contracts and give them an extreme lotto ticket in Schroeder

She didn’t get him injured. She’s not Iago whispering bad thoughts constantly in his ear. He’s a grownass man making his own decisions. Now, if people claim she’s milking his stardom to further her own Kardashian-like social media agenda, I totally agree. He won't be worth a damn with her in the picture.

Woman has aspirations towards being a celebrity, and though albeit in a strange way, got some publicity. I will bet money that his next team will be in LA or NY, so she can get the exposure she needs. She didn’t get him injured. She’s not Iago whispering bad thoughts constantly in his ear. He’s a grownass man making his own decisions. Now, if people claim she’s milking his stardom to further her own Kardashian-like social media agenda, I totally agree. Whoa! I'm impressed, son

It's tough for me to envision any club giving Correa a lavish deal in free agency, much less deal blue chip prospects for him given that he struggles to reach 500 plate appearances in any given season Unless they plan to move him to the OF to take the pressure off his lower back

I don’t see why they don’t try him at 3B. There’s less range necessary for the position, you let the ball come to you usually, and you’ve got to have a strong arm, which he does.

On Christmas Eve afternoon I was in front of a grill doing Pablano and Jalapeno poppers down in San Antonio. Sitting next to me were my brother and our nephew. They both are in keeper leagues for fantasy baseball. By the time I had finished cooking up a mess of poppers they had drank 3 beers apiece and managed to trade Brantley, Reddick, Osuna, and Correa and had signed Castellanos to a free agent deal for 4 years and 58 million and received May and some catching prospect back from the Dodgers and three other pitching prospects back in return. One of whom they were sure would be our closer. They declared all our problems solved, the commissioner a buffoon, and everything else was right with the world. For a while there I was in a place where I was sure I was dealing with some wild combination of two guys that had the knowledge of olpapa and the inclinations of Nathan. Family gatherings are always great and entertaining. Glad to see them and glad to be gone.

Had a great time so far this holiday season, but it wasn't the same without my Mom who passed in August at the age of 90. She was hilarious and very, very smart. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a prosperous New year.

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a prosperous New year. I am sorry for your loss. You being a doctor and mentioning that your mom was hilarious brought to mind my wife’s late grandmother. I loved that little lady like she was my own grandmother. She too was a smart woman with a great sense of humor. She died at age 97 and she retained her sharp mind and wit until the end. At age 93 she went to her doctor for her annual checkup. After checking her over her doctor was writing out the prescription for one of her medications. As he wrote he looked over his glasses at her and said, “Miss Starnes, if you would quit eating salt, I would not have to write this.” Without hesitating she replied, “Well keep on writing then.” That little woman was a hoot.

My mom was a lot like her mother, who lived to be 92, always laughing and never taking much of anything too seriously. My grandma smoked unfiltered Camel cigarettes for 75 years and never had lung problems (died of renal failure and refused dialysis). When she was in her late 80's I told her, "Grandma, those things are going to kill you". She said, "You know, that's what Dr. (whatever his name was) told me". Then she reflected for a moment and said, "He's dead now".

My dad's dad lived to be 96. On his 90th birthday I asked him at what age a man lost his desire for a woman. He didn't hesitate in saying, "You'll have to ask someone older than me."

Seen an intreasting trade on another board might be a good trade.
Correa, Reddick, Whitley, Bielak and Valdez to the Mets
Syndergaard, Seth Lugo, Jeff McNeil to the Astros

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a prosperous New year. I totally understand. I lost my dad as a kid but my father in law of 44 years is slipping away from us. He has dementia and that is the worst way of moving on. I already miss the good times and he is still here. Most of us do not get the choice of how we pass but this is definitely one that I want to avoid.
