It's tough for me to envision any club giving Correa a lavish deal in free agency, much less deal blue chip prospects for him given that he struggles to reach 500 plate appearances in any given season Unless they plan to move him to the OF to take the pressure off his lower back
I don’t see why they don’t try him at 3B. There’s less range necessary for the position, you let the ball come to you usually, and you’ve got to have a strong arm, which he does. It wouldn't surprise me if Carlos caught on with another club who decided to move him off his natural position. Fielders with his ability make the best transition when it's tried

When in the lineup the defense he plays at short cannot be duplicated. The play he cut down LeMahieu at the plate with the ball bouncing off Jose is what he brings to the position.

The play he cut down LeMahieu at the plate with the ball bouncing off Jose is what he brings to the position. When he can play the position... It would be great if CC could play a season injury free, but you could also say that for George, Jose and Lance. Also in the case with Lance, even if he is injury free I really don't see him pick up the loss of Cole's innings. He is going to have to come up big, to help this pitching staff to be successful.

Twins sign Homer Bailey and Rich Hill. The Rich Hill deal would have been smart for us as well... Rich Hill had a alternative to TJ surgery, and won't pitch until June at the earliest.
Hill’s outlook is more uncertain considering he just underwent primary revision surgery to reattach the UCL in his left elbow. The initial prognosis called for the left-hander to be sidelined through at least June of the 2020 season.
“The rehab’s going great. I’m six weeks into it right now and my elbow feels brand new. The one thing about the primary revision surgery is that the internal brace that goes in there as opposed to doing a full revision of the Tommy John surgery, is something that will expedite the months of getting back to the field. As opposed to a full revision of Tommy John, this will only take seven to eight months to get back onto the field. By June, I’m fully expecting to be out there pitching in Major League games.”

Feb 1st, 2020, O/U date before Manfred punishes the Astros Over.... The longer we have to wait, the worse the uncertainty hurts the team. COB and the POS other teams will want it that way. I'll go with a mid-ST decison..... 13 Mar 2020.

Exactly. Considering that McCullers likely won't stay healthy for the full year, you'd have, hopefully, a rested Hill for a playoff run.

After the Altuve ALCS walkoff against the Yankees, this was Correa in his interview:
“I just asked him [Altuve], “Hey, were you sitting on the slider?” He said, “Yeah.” I was like, “WHAT? Are you crazy? The guy throws 100 miles an hour, and you’re sitting on the slider?”
If you’re reaching for innocence in the cheating scandal, that’s one example. It would be weird for a key player on offense to be left in the dark if rampant systemic cheating were involved that would favor our hitters.

After every pitch he looks to the dugout for a sign, man what a dead giveaway. How the Stros pick up signs, that is easy pickin's. It could have been as easy to pick what foot Boone had on top of the dugout step for a two pitch thrower like Chapman.

With our payroll as it is, Luhnow was never going to have much to work with this offseason anyways.

Waiting on the punishment sucks, but we'd hate for it to be rushed and wrong also. Besides, the longer it goes the more they'll learn about other teams as well, I would expect.

However, I’m more focused on the team’s lack of moves. Has it just been giving Yuli a raise, McCullers the same pay, and reupping with Smith? I’m surprised they haven’t been ultra-aggressive in case MLB comes down on them hard.

Getting Maldonado was a little better than that. We have three solid-good defensive catchers for a little under $5 million this year. If we get their typical defense and doubl digit HRs combined from the position, I'd say we did pretty good for that position. We didn't really need to add offense for 2020. Where it might hurt is after 2020 if we don't find a way to replace Brantley's and Springer's production...

Well, they’d better go all out then because you can’t just replace an icon like George with some free agent that you probably can’t afford anyway.

If George has a similar season to what he has averaged recently (30+ HR .850+ OPS) with solid-good defense, he'll be looking at a Rendon-type deal this offseason, I'd imagine. I'd say 6-years $180 million would be the starting point.

Man, the White Sox have done a really good job this offseason. They've got some potential to take that division if their key pitchers stay healthy.
