Derek Jeter fell one vote shy of becoming the second player unanimously elected to the Hall of Fame, while Larry Walker also made it in his 10th and final chance at induction.

Larry Walker, particularly with the mullet, was one of the most fearsome hitters of my generation. I’m glad he got inducted.

Ozuna signs with Braves for 1-year $18 million.
Not bad for a guy that's basically been a Gattis-caliber hitter the last couple years.

All the things I remembered about Gattis were ugly swings, GIDP’s, and home runs. He was the bear version of Marisnick. He was mediocre but beloved for some reason.

Great guy, not so great player. As a person, he seems great. I just didn’t get why he was embraced as much as he was. The hardships and circumstances he overcame to get where he was had a lot to do with how fans embraced him. He also provided a big home run against the Yankees in game 7 of the ALCS which helped us get to the WS. I never liked how he was dumped so we could keep a worthless dud like Stassi as backup catcher.

I would have taken Gattis over Stassi. My defense of Stassi was because our depth was so weak (still fairly is) and because he had tremendous value from a framing standpoint. Plus he was a .713 OPS hitter as a catcher up until last season. That solid offense for a catcher plus great framing for very cheap is pretty valuable. Unfortunately his offense was so so bad in 2019, he had to go even to me.

There is obviously no value in a catcher with all dem framin' skilz, or Stassi wouldn't be working at Lowe's.

I'd still prefer giving Stubbs a chance, but I don't like the idea of having virtually nobody after him. Maldonado for 2-years $7 million is adequate.

The Yankees should let this guy free, there is no reason to hold on to him. Idk what it would cost. Maybe see if they bite on some young sp like Armentaros or a Peacock type of player. But he would look good batting in this lineup As they say you never have enough pitching, I could see a trade by them to stock their AAA team.

I loved Conger. Not the best catcher but very entertaining. That's an oddity that runs rampant with Astros fans more than any other team's fans: liking a player due to the way he dances in the dugout (or humps legs) rather than disliking him for his complete lack of skill.

Whatever, Tim. I'm sure other teams have fans who like players and don't go around hating everyone.

Gattis could out hit any catcher on our current roster. But his defense was horrible. That is the reason AJ putting him in the DH position. The only reason he held that was that Beltran's bat was a bust.
