According to Roster Resource, Jake has 2 options left. That said, there has been some discussion on the board as to whether or not Jake would have to be placed on waivers for 48 hours and clear waivers before he could be sent down. It has been over two years since Jake's mlb debut. I found this at the Baseball Reference site: “When a team wishes to send a player who has options to the minor leagues, there is a catch if the player's debut date is over two years ago. In those cases, the team needs to place his name on the waiver list and wait 48 hours for a claim.” I have found Baseball Reference to be a legitimate source of info on major league baseball. Thanks. He wouldn’t clear waivers. I could see a team like the A's, Rays or Marlins where Jake came from putting in a claim.

A walk is as good as a hit.

It looks like Cole is getting the Ryan treatment, no run support.

If the Astros score in the bottom of the inning, can cole get the win? If I understand correctly, I don’t think so. Such as this is why the “W” stat is not that big a deal to me. A guy like Cole can pitch his heart out for 6 2/3 innings and leave with the lead only to have a relief pitcher come in and get the final out, but allow the tying run to score before getting the final out of the inning and being removed from the game after pitching just 1/3 of an inning. Then, if the home team takes the lead back in the bottom half of the inning and goes on to win the game, the relief pitcher who pitched only 1/3 of an inning and blew the lead gets credit for the win because he was the pitcher of record at the time his team took the lead. Something wrong with that picture.

And now Harris can get the W if the Astros hold the lead.
