Yes, very much so. My reasoning was to gain another game on the Angels, and then hopefully we can handle the Yanks in this 4 game series starting today. This series is big for the Astros. Time for them to start showing they can handle the playoff caliber competition this year. I say, I say, you will be reaching 500 today..**

Angels staff feeding FB's to Sanchez and the boys, let's hope Morton's "Uncle Charley" is working tonight.

What would you consider to be a successful series? 1. 4-0 2. 3-1 3. 2-2 4. 1-3 5. 0-4 but no injuries to key players.

Cole is looking like as good a pickup as Verlander. Luhnow is a great GM. Possibly the best the organization ever had

~Insert hyperbole of your choice here~ Ed Wade... Forever to be known as the "DMV" of MLB GM's.

I usually give new Astros a chance and all, but I was opposed to Ed Wade from the beginning. I knew he was hired just because he was Tal Smith’s buddy and all. Hiring a crony just didn’t seem like the right move at the time, especially since the Purpura experiment didn’t work either. He was also way more into relievers than starters for my taste. I knew that things like the old World Series rotation the team had back in ‘05 wouldn’t happen with him. He’s the kind of GM who can work well with a quick fix but not for a full rebuild, which the Astros needed at the time. Of course, Uncle Drayton was never going to sign off on that.

Wade was good at signing infielders and bolstering the pen, but his rosters were a joke cause he anchored the rotation with Chris Sampson

I believe I was pro-Ed Wade at the beginning because I thought he was mostly doing the best anybody could have done based on the path Drayton was taking. He wasn't given much to work with.
Wasn't there some type of list on the board where people were taking sides or something? I remember a guy named Waastro was very much on one side of the debate and would argue with everybody, but I can't remember all the details.

I gave Ed Wade the benefit of the doubt until he telegraphed that re would replace Adam Everett. He wound up getting NOTHING for one of the premier defensive shortstops in the game.
It was a waste of assets. GMs should never waste assets. That's when I lost it and turned against him. Old-timers will remember my FIRE WADE thread. It didn't go over well with some.

He was a premier defensive player until El Caballo clumsily broke the guy’s leg.

There were days back then that I thought Wade was in collusion with the Phillies and intentionally trying to destroy the club.

OMB did say on more than one occasion Tal was the one constant in the organization all the years the ballclub came up short season after season
