THose teams had multiple borderline great players. Jeter was the best of them, but it was just a very good all-around team. People forget how good Bernie Williams and Jorge Posada were also. In the 2000's, Posada averaged 21 HR 82 RBI and a 129 OPS+ as a catcher. And Bernie was a borderline HoFer, imo.

Trout thinks he's entitled to the MVP even though he sits on his ass the last two months of the season on a horse shit team. He is a great player who bales on his team after they are eliminated from contention. As far as OPS, WAR, and those other stats are concerned, i doubt if the HOF voters give a damn what those numbers are and never refer to them before casting votes. Maybe you stat guys should research the OPS and WAR of Mays, Mantle, Aaron, Clemente, etc. and see if they should have been elected to the HOF. |
