If they keep winning, all of this will pass. If the offense craters, they'll never get away from it. The only way for the Astros to quiet the trolls and repair some of the damage they have done to their reputation with the fans is to win the championship in 2020.

Exactly, Altuve spoke out and said it would be done so now they have to go out and do it. I am hoping whoever is doing GM duties can still improve the pitching.

We have the talent to have a great offense........I wish we had known that before Cora instigated this crap.

Altuve got interviewed a little. He claimed there would be a time to talk about it. We'll see... based on bregman repeating the same line over and over, I'm 100% certain they have been instructed in how to answer. That's the smartest thing they can do...keep it vague...in case some legislator does bring things to a congressional investigation. Their lawyer/agents are obviously coaching them.

George is worth every bit as much as Altuve is getting.

You know it’s really a crying shame that two guys that were just passing through the Astros organization managed to screw up the reputation of an entire organization. Cora and Beltran do not self identify as Astros. It is extremely unfortunate that they are identified as Astros when they chose to cheat.
I agree that the easiest way to shut everybody’s pie hole is to win. Almost time to get that process started.

Hiring the best possible manager has to be the top priority if we want to keep winning and that means Biggio, Ausmus, or Bochy with Berkman as a possibility......don't even consider the others. Trying to make peace with Nolan Ryan and his family would also be a huge plus if Crane can pull it off. After the way they were treated, he has a big job on his hands if he can do it.

Hall of Fame manager Tony La Russa fired back Friday at Jack McDowell after the former Cy Young winner alleged that La Russa used an elaborate sign-stealing system at Comiskey Park during his time with the Chicago White Sox.
“My question is this: Was he ever on our team?” La Russa said. “He was never on our team.”
McDowell made his Major League debut in 1987, a year after La Russa had been fired by the White Sox.

it will be interesting to see who shows up at Spring Training as non-roster invites.......especially pitchers. I would like to see them invite Colin McHugh and Aaron Sanchez.

Aaron Sanchez, to my understanding, will not be able to pitch....he will be lucky to see if someone will give him a 2 year deal, in hopes he can play late this season, but more so for next season.

No one seems interested so give him a minor league deal and an invite

Hell I would give Sanchez a deal too. Pay him a minimum deal with big bonuses for big innings

No one seems interested so give him a minor league deal and an invite McHugh is worth an invite to ST and when Sanchez is health, he is as well. We need to take chances on them. Right now, we have Verlander, Greinke, and ? Hopefully, McCullers, Urquidy and Whitley or Peacock can fill out the rotation since Luhnow didn't do crap about adding pitching before getting his ass fired.

I am, too., I just hope Crane hires the right manager. Surely he won't stick them with Dusty Baker or Jeff Banister.

Well Dusty Baker has landed in Houston for his interview with Crane today. A few days ago I thought to myself, "there is no way Crane would hire someone old school like Baker who doesn't embrace analytics." Today, I think Crane may very well hire Dusty Baker while we have our core team together. He might not be the future, but I think Crane wants an experienced manager with a good reputation for the next couple of years.

I think Crane sees these old school managers as being less likely to let things like our cheating go on. These new millennium managers are from the "everyone gets a trophy" era and it makes them too permissive of the anything goes attitude.

It'll just be a dark chapter in an overall good book.

It doesn't make much sense to commit to a manager before a GM. I think they should give Espada the job this year and then make a move, if necessary, once we get a GM in place.

These new millennium managers are from the "everyone gets a trophy" era and it makes them too permissive of the anything goes attitude. One of the worst things to ever happen was when the bed-wetters who whined that "everyone is a winner" and demanded 'participation trophies' for kids just for showing up. It teaches that working to be the best isn't important. With that said, if he thinks he needs an old school manager. he needs to try to land Bruce Bochy. Baker will ruin the pitching staff. I still prefer Biggio or Ausmus.
