The best compromise of appeasing fans AND getting effective guys that will respect the analytics (but also seem to know baseball from a little bit of an old school view) are likely Ensberg and Everett. I haven't seen them mentioned anywhere seriously though. I mentioned Everett last week as my pick for manager and I was 100% serious. he is a better option than many that have been mentioned.

I'm starting to get a little frustrated that Cora hasn't received his punishment for his contributions for 2017. I can see how they want to do more investigating on Boston before penalizing the organization, but Cora was already investigated. He should receive his 1-year suspension regardless of being fired. (And maybe more depending on what they find he did in 2018.)
Also there have been players and coaches that have called out other teams. When are those investigations going to start?

It's confirmed that Brad Ausmus is in Houston today interviewing for the manager job. He deserves more consideration than Baker, Showalter, Banister, or Gibbons.

It's confirmed that Brad Ausmus is in Houston today interviewing for the manager job. Yessir From MLBTR: “The Astros have added to the list of candidates for their surprise managerial opening. Brad Ausmus is in Houston presently to take an interview with the club, Mark Berman of FOX 26 was among those to report on Twitter.” Well theres your manager with connection to the Astros and managerial experience.

I don't necessarily have a problem with Ausmus becoming manager. However, he is hard to root for when he was bashing the Astros and Marisnick last year for the slide fiasco.

Whoever Crane hires needs to be a good strategist and also someone who has shown the ability to take the heat and lead players when the heat is on. It is going to be a helluva year for our guys.

I would be 100% against this hire. However, Bannister would be good at standing up for his team and not backing down. He is quite the red a**

I agree, but I believe we are going to get a manager like Baker, Banister or Ausmus. I agree. I don’t care for Banister at all, but he will stand up for his players. Ausmus will too. There’s probably not a lot that Baker hasn’t seen and would likely have a calming influence on the team, but I am afraid he would ruin every arm we have on the pitching staff.

The only people I really care to hear more info from are Altuve, Springer, and McCann. They're the ones that surprise me the most about doing something inappropriate. The rest of the guys don't surprise me at all.

That means all the rest were just cheaters and these three were paragons of virtue. LOL Wake up, if the information was available from the cameras Cora had set up, every last one of them used it and they are liars if they say otherwise. Any player on any team would have done likewise.

From the article: “Fiers pitched the most innings for the Astros in 2017 but was left off the postseason roster...” That, my friends, is the reason Fiers ratted on the Astros.

I enjoy reading your post so don't take it as me talking crap. I defended them and would not say they cheated until the evidence was produced that showed they cheated due to Cora's sign-stealing scheme he set up using centerfield cameras to send video to cameras near the dugout that could be decoded to give the hitter tips on what pitch was coming. Once that was shown, then I agreed that they cheated. I blame Cora more than anyone and then Beltran who was very much involved. I blame Hinch for not having the balls to put a stop to it once he knew it was taking place. I think Luhnow lied out his ass when he said he knew nothing about it . I think Crane told the truth when he claimed not to know. I agree with Crane for firing Hinch and Luhnow even though losing Luhnow hurts. But the biggest loss is the loss of our top two draft picks for two years. I DO NOT think the players should be punished and I don't think they owe anyone an apology. Any player competing for long-term multi-million dollar contracts would not decline to use helpful information if it was available. I hate that all of this happened and I think we were dead wrong to do it. What sucks is that the main two culprits...........Cora and Beltran.......left after 2017 and Hinch and Luhnow ended up losing their jobs over it. Jim Crane created ill will when he demoted Reid Ryan and then Nolan left. He needs the Ryan family to help through this mess but he won't get them after the stunt he pulled with Reid. Taking a dump on the Ryans was a stupid move on Crane's part.

He lost his spot in the rotaton because he was getting hammered. Then, he was left off the playoff roster and then was not offered a contract. Fiers pulled this crap to get even. The loser needs to remember that what goes around comes around. He will get his.

Fiers is a loser in every sense of the word. He consistently got hit hard and pouted each time Hinch came out to get him. When he left,l I said good riddance. Whenver I think of trading Hader to the Brewers for him and a piece of crap like Carlos Gomez I want to vomit.

I'm guessing Darvish lost a lot of money on his contract with the Cubs.

What I don’t follow is that Luhnow is the villain for not disseminating the email to his players, but Hinch was still mad enough to destroy cameras. With all of this, somehow the players were granted immunity because they were innocent lambs who didn’t know they were doing wrong. It’s all contradictory.

Doesn’t sound like Keuchel has much use for Fiers. From the article in response to the question of what he thought about Fiers spilling the beans: “That's a tough subject because it's such a tight-knit community in the clubhouse," Keuchel said. "In baseball especially, you're playing 162 games, at least, in the regular season, plus spring training and then maybe in the playoffs if you're lucky so you're pushing 185-200 games, and it sucks to the extent that the clubhouse rule was broken. And that's where I'll go with that. I don't really have much else to say about Mike."

Darvish gave up 4 ER in 1.2 IP without striking a batter in game #3 in Houston and gave up 4 ER in 1.2 IP without striking out a batter in game #7 in Los Angeles. Clearly the Astros using a camera to steal signs at home was a huge difference maker and cost Darvish a lot of money.

Cora is the primary guilty party and should receive the ultimate punishment,. Hinch was guilty of being too spineless to put a stop to it. Luhnow lied when he claimed he didn't know about it. He had to know due to several things, mainly the emails. The players are not squeaky clean but they don't deserve punishment for using information given to them.
