Cora? Puerto Rican. Beltrán? Puerto Rican. Espada? Puerto Rican. Gibbons? American. The last thing we need to do is hire another Puerto Rican, but if you white, you right!!! Gotta be Gibbons! Bochy is white.......Biggio is white........Ausmus is white. All of them would be a better choice than Gibbons or another Puerta Rican. Of course, the black coke head, Ron Washington,has been mentioned. |

So JD Martinez has come out and said they didn't do what was described in 2018. He says MLB will exonerate them on the claims. So are they better liars, or did they really not cheat? Alex Cora only made sure the players cheated when he was a bench coach....once he got a manager position, he developed morals/ethics, so the cheating did not happen. |

FTR - I am disgusted with the lengths the Astros went to cheat...It is an embarrassment to the city and the legacy of the team....I believe the Astros were the best team in baseball the past 3 years...they did not need to cheat...I hate being the asterisk, wish we would never have had won....
These are trying times, but 5 and 10 years from now, I will still be posting with all of you, supporting the Astros with you.
FTR - Cora and Beltran both need a good punch in the junk.....knock on their front door...(they answer)....(punch in the junk).....they scream WHY?......You Know Why!!!!!

I saw nothing racial in olpapa's post and I meant nothing racial in my response. I don't think who we hire as manager should have anything to do with his race. The fact that Baker is black has nothing to do with me not wanting him hired......it's his track record of ruining pitcbing staffs and blowing playoff series. I also don't want Banister or Showalter who are both white. I want the best fit at this time and race should not be a factor in who gets the job. I want Biggio for reasons I have posted. If we can't get him, I would like to see what Ausmus can do with a talented roster. Bochy is a proven winner if we want an experienced manager with a track record of success. Espada has no managerial experience and was here during the scandal. We need to get a manager the players will respect and the fans will support. He also needs to have a solid reputation and be respected by major league baseball. |

Whatever happened to that Tony D(something) guy who used to manage in AAA? Tony Defrancesco. When he didn’t get the Astros manager job he left and became manager of the Mets AAA Las Vegas team. I think he got promoted and is now an assistant coach for the Mets. |

Defrancesco actually left the Houston organization after the Astros won the 2017 WS. I guess he figured that he would never get the Astros manager job. He coached the Las Vegas team in 2018-2019. He interviewed for the Mets manager position before BVW chose Beltrán. He is listed as the Mets 1B coach on their MLB website. The guy has paid his dues. Maybe the Mets will give him a shot at their manager position.
Defrancesco was the Astros last manager in the NL.

The best compromise of appeasing fans AND getting effective guys that will respect the analytics (but also seem to know baseball from a little bit of an old school view) are likely Ensberg and Everett. I haven't seen them mentioned anywhere seriously though. I mentioned Everett last week as my pick for manager and I was 100% serious. |
