That’s a relief for Verlander and our hitters.

It keeps the Astros from being booed. Figured this would happen. Bye bye sports for awhile.

Delaying the season is good in another way. It starts too early to begin with. Playing or watching Baseball in 30 degree weather is no picnic.

Depending how long this fiasco lingers, it is going to be interesting if and how they are going to arrange the schedule for the rest of the season. This could end up being a real mess.

Ideas (provided they can get going end of April or so):
1. Make it an even 120 Game regular season. 2. Only a 3-day AS break. 3. One double header a month at each ballpark with half pricing and advertise it as a family event.

Then that is when starting pitchers were pitchers.

It keeps the Astros from being booed. Figured this would happen. Bye bye sports for awhile. This was the first time that I can say I had to stop watching Baseball. Every Baseball outlet from the net to the tube would be the scandal of the Stros, no matter what game you tuned into. For me to start a Baseball season like this after following it for years would have been unconscionable.

Were Phillies fans as crazy back in those days as they are now? Connie Mack was located in the ghetto part of North Philly, it was located next to a railroad yard. You actually had to worry about being mugged around the stadium, we always went on chartered busses which were big for Sunday games. Taking your car and park in any lot around the area chances were some part would be stripped. When seeing the Stros players getting booed so far the spring, going back then Dick Allen getting it from the home town fans was the norm. One game I saw him hit two out over the left field bleachers clearing the park and booed mercifully. dickallenhof.blogspot.com/2009/03/letters-in-dirt.html

I remember going down to Connie Mack Stadium on quite a few Sundays, especially on promotion days. Then that is when starting pitchers were pitchers. Were Phillies fans as crazy back in those days as they are now? Going back to the 1967 season and attending a DH at Connie Mack Stadium brought me to some thoughts about how they played 162 games starting on April 11 and completing the season on October 1st. In this day and age the players union would not go along how those seasons in that era played out. I almost forgot about those holiday DH'ers. As a fan as you mentioned it was great seeing a two for the price of one. It is crazy how during this era using a four man rotation. and off days minimal the game was played. It is interesting to look back at those box scores and the players. How about Sonny Jackson being the Stros shortstop for the next decade, that never played out. Another point that brings back bad memories was Connie Mack Stadium was the "House of Horrors" as the Trop is now for Houston. www.baseball-reference.com/teams/HOU/1967-schedule-scores.shtml

CDC now recommends no gatherings of 50 or more for 8 weeks. That takes it til mid-May. Assuming MLB follows those guidelines and are able to start up mid-May, first regular season games may not happen till June, at the earliest.

That 120-game regular season that Saint suggested could very well become a reality.

I thought about that too, but I'm sure MLB will want/need to make some money back somehow and there is a lot they get from that.

I picture Corch outside on his porch, on his rocking chair, and his shotgun on his lap....wearing his MAGA hat.....he has trusty Bassett Hound, Gus, laying on his porch to his left... The radio is playing a Charlie Pride song..Corch is singing along loudly, even his neighbors can hear him. Good Ole Corch has only heard Mr. Pride on the radio...

Between MLB and the government, they've acted irresponsibly. Delaying the season it tough enough. But closing the bars so we can't cry in our beer over it, is just intolerable. Heartless bastids!

My family has me and my brother-in-law on orders to stay out of stores and stay home. That means he gets bossing around the clock from my sister who is in charge of the family grocery shopping. she is doing a great job. None of us are running low on toilet paper andf we are not among the morons who are hoarding it. Certain kinds of food are hard to find but she is persistent and finds it. She went to 5 Kroger's, 3 HEB's, and 3 Wal Mart supercenters but got what she wanted.

That sounds perfect.......wish I could do it. I have re-watched my DVD collection of the 2017 World Series and game 7 of the ALCS . l didn't hear any banging on trash cans and our pitchers still made the crybaby Yankees and Dodger hitters look like crap. I like Encore Westerns and have watched a lot of that.......Most of the network TV shows are garbage. My TV never turns to CNN or MSNBC as I don't like to hear the bullshit liberal propaganda. Media hype is the most dangerous virus we are dealing with. Thomas, instead of Charley Pride, I'd rather sit in chair on the porch listening to Merle Haggard singing "The Fighting Side of Me".
