Astros have 10 hits in the last 17 innings and 1 double.

the biggest plus for the offense last year was that there was solid performance up and down the lineup. We did not have any holes in the lineup so the pitchers always had pressure and the hitters were comfortable with the fact that if they failed for whatever reason someone would pick them up. This year we have 2-3 outs before we even start, so the pressure has moved back to the guys who are hitting and they press. Bringing up White and Davis would partially at least plug those holes and provide a spark from time to time. That is not something we are getting right now and something that we need.
Time is wasting

Yankees are handing the Astros arses to them and the Yankee outfielders are mocking the Astro outfielders’ post-win celebration in our outfield. If the Astros players have any pride they will come out fired up and ready to play tomorrow. If they come out and go through the motions again tomorrow, I will be tempted to believe that they have problems of some kind in the clubhouse. Not many of the players playing with any fire about them.

I don’t necessarily think Tyler White and JD Davis can save this offense but it’s time to give them a shot. Tonight the team looked like no amount of (feasible) replacements could have saved them. I guess there is some value in early-season losses that expose a team's weaknesses. Gives the management a good idea of what needs improvement. If the Astros only beat up on weak teams, certain weaknesses may remain disguised. The Yankees didn't hit terribly well as a team today either. It was largely the Stanton Show that got them through.

Tanaka vs McCullers should give the Astros a good chance of winning.
It might be good to cut/demote Marisnick or Gattis at this point, both to send a message to the whole clubhouse that players who consistently hold the team back won't be tolerated, and also to reassure the consistent performers that the FO will do everything it reasonably can to provide them teammates who will help them win.
Verlander and Keuchel combined only allowed 3 runs in 15 IP these last two games, so it's not like the SP has been letting the team down.

All teams look like they have issues when theyre slumping. It's just a slump.
They will start hitting again.
People need to not jump over board. We've still managed to hold on to first place and we've got a lot of time to figure it out.

It is a long season, if I remember correctly the Stros has a scoreless streak in innings in the teens last season. It looks magnified now because it is the Yankees. Tanaka has been an up and down pitcher the last few seasons.

It looks like the top of the order is starting to press too much because the bottom part has been so inept. Springer has stopped trying to go up the middle and to right field and swings from his heels trying to hit home runs. Altuve is going after pitches that are not close to the strike zone. Correa still puts himself in a hole by taking too many fastball strikes. Marwin has gone back to being the hitter he was before last season when he went for any low breaking pitch. Fisher takes too many third called strikes. Hopefully, they snap out of it. It would also be nice to see some signs of enthusiasm.

I remember never blaming the offense was Ghick’s thing. One day, he finally came around when the Astros squandered a bases loaded/no out situation. Bats are why it's hard for me to pile on Giles ATM. and Gregerson two seasons agoVerlander set up this really impressive Jenga tower, and Giles toppled it in one turn.

I hardly ever do this, but I could just not stomach last nights game. I turned it off after the 5th inning and did something else. Just as I presumed we did not come back or even score a run. I do realize this is probably just a slump and we will break out eventually. It's just so hard to watch our team get shut out and look pathetic in the process.

It doesn’t say Keuchel, does it? I hope not the Fiers curse. lol It could be. Right now Fiers is allowing 1.6 home runs per 9 innings pitched and has a 3.91 ERA. Keuchel is allowing 1.7 home runs per 9 innings pitched and has a 3.98 ERA. Scary. Dallas needs to lose that tattoo.

I agree. If I remember correctly there was reportedly a lot of dissatisfaction in the clubhouse in August last season due to the fact that Luhnow didn’t get anything done at the non-waiver trade deadline to provide the team the help it needed to get over the hump. The dissatisfaction in the clubhouse was reflected in the team’s performance on the field. Once Luhnow acquired Verlander, the team caught fire and the rest is history. It has got to be discouraging for the players to see Marisnick’s and Gattis’s names in the starting lineup day after day when they are not coming anywhere close to getting the job done. Especially Gattis. At least Jake can contribute on defense. Gattis is making no contribution at all. Having Gattis, Marisnick...and Marwin, so far.., in the starting lineup every day is like giving the opposing pitchers 3 free outs out of every 9 at-bats we have. That is putting a lot of pressure on the other 6 starters to pick up the slack. Time to make some moves to shake things up.

I think fans look more into player psyches and clubhouse attitudes more than the players do. I'm sure they all agree they should be doing more, but I bet they aren't chomping at the bit to get rid of or demote their teammates less than a quarter way into the season. They understand better than anyone that there are hot streaks, cold streaks, injuries, and that it's a long ass season. A winning team looks happy and dominant. A losing team looks unhappy. At the end of the day, they know they're still a 1st place team that has won it all and has all the pieces to do it again. They've just hit an offensive lull.

Call me crazy, old-fashioned, or whatever, but after having gotten to know a lot of acupuncturists in Asia, I have started to lean towards the idea that tattooing any part of the body disrupts the flow of life energy (prana, qi, whatever you want to call it) and, more measurably, the flow of electricity, in the tattooed part of the body. This would theoretically make that body part function more poorly. If I were a pitcher, I'd never get a tattoo, and especially in my throwing hand.

For example, soccer players mainly use their feet to play. Like I said, maybe I'm just old-fashioned. Got no problem admitting it! The whole female tattooing thing in recent years makes me think, 'How could any man find that woman attractive after she did *that* to her body?'. But then again, as long as it's other guys who have to love 'em, I got no problem with it. It would be interesting if somebody could do a before-and-after study on MLB pitchers who get tattoos on their throwing arm. Is there any significant difference in ERA? Probably no such study has ever been done, but I would tend to think their ERA goes up.

Giles' problem is since last August he's all in his head about being closer-guy instead of I'm a reliever and just go out there and pitch, and not try to be some character who looks good on a highlight reel His other issue is his slider absolutely cannot miss in its location. The pitch has about half the break as Lidge’s did in his heyday. It seems like whenever Giles’s slider meanders into the strike zone, it gets absolutely demolished. On rare occasions, this happens to Chapman too, but he generally makes sure it breaks toward a righty’s foot or far away from lefties. Giles has no idea where his pitch will go, and that is why he cannot be trusted. The game plan has always been to throw the fastball at 100 miles per hour either very close to or in the zone and the slider teases the zone. He can’t seem to do it regularly or even in consecutive outings. His command is spotty at best. Also, like I said before, seeing him punch his own face was the last straw. He’s not our closer.

Wide receivers and basketball players are covered in tattoos all over their arms, etc.

I don’t have too much of a problem with women getting tattoos. I just think getting them in areas like the face, neck, and thighs are total turnoffs. The chest and butt are too sacred for them too. I guess I really am not much of a fan of woman tats. Less is more.

I don't have a problem with moderate tattoos on arms, backs, chest. I think sleeves on anybody looks ridiculous, and face tattoos are trashy.
