We're now 1.5 games behind Oakland.
I've seen a lot of people upset with Dusty, and, while I've never been a big fan, I don't really think it matters at this point. Our offense is scoring plenty overall to win almost every game, but our veteran pitchers have either been mostly bad or are hurt. Most of us didn't even know half of our current pitchers, and it seems like there is a new nobody on the mound every day. I don't believe anybody would be very successful with that.
A lot of the young pitchers have been mostly quite good. It's the McCullers's, Greinke's, and James's of the team that have let people down. And maybe expectations were too high for James and McCullers since both of them should be relievers anyways.
In any case, they're hanging in there despite the issues. Perhaps one of these days Altuve will get going and Yordan/Urquidy will be back and we'll really take off.

The disappointments are James, who has great stuff but bad mechanics. I think his emotions are also a problem. I think McCullers was tipping pitches unless an injury popped up that we don't know about. It is hard to figure how he could be perfect for 3 innigns and then get hammered. |

The way people are about Lance, I always was with James. The first couple of innings, he blows by hitters. Then, his location starts lacking, he drops in velocity, and he can’t get Strike 3. He seems better as a reliever, but he needs to regain the velocity of two seasons ago. I don’t remember the last time he hit 100 mph on the gun.

That is our best lineup with Brantley back in there. I am concerned that Maldonado is not getting enough rest. WARNING: COVID 19 hasn't spared us from that jackass in Oakland who bangs on that damn drum........The A's are either letting him in the stadium or they have recorded all that damn banging just to irritate the opposition. I caught a little of hte Rangers game Tuesday night and that drum was coming through loud and clear.  |
