I have a feeling that if we ever get the lead, Sneed’s happy self will come trotting in for the save opportunity. LMFAO You nailed it, the dumb SOB we have as manager gives nnother game away. We should be very proud of Crane for hiring this dumbass and then extending his contract.

We get great pitching and took the lead in the 13th.Then, this stupid SOB that Crane hired to manage the team bring in Sneed to close the game. It wasn't bad enough that thiw POS gave awau ;ast night's game, he went for two straight. True enough our offense was terrible, but, what manager brings in the worst pitcher on the team to close the game and then intentionally walks the winning run to first base. Sneed had an 0-2 count on Allen with two outs and us still up 2-1 and grooves a pitch to give up the tying run. Then,he walks Kemp and Semien drives in the game winner. Sneed has no business being on this team and Dusty Baker has to be the dumbest SOB I've ever seen at handling pitchers. We won't win a damn thing with this fool as manager. I’m with you about tonight’s game. Sneed sucks and should never be given another save chance. In fact, I hope he gets cut or traded. He had an 0-2 count and couldn’t even get the batter to chase something out of the zone. That’s just Baseball 101. If he can’t even implement that strategy, he shouldn’t be pitching. Someone needs to tell him he’s not Billy Wagner and to also tell Dusty that this season is 60 games long, not 162. Wake the eff up.

Guys, we are required to lose these games like this. It's a hidden part of our punishment for being dirty cheaters. The umpires seem to think so. Our pitchers get squeezed and our hitters get strikes called on them that are a good six inches out of the zone.

My only hope is that he will be fired after this season. I doubt if Crane fires the idiot since he extended his contract almost by the time we started playing. Baker was a poor choice as manager for the reasons we have seen. I'd fire his dumb ass and would not object to Hinch being brought back. AJ is a genius compared to this idiot.

That piece of shit shouldn't be on the team. That 0-2 pitch was frustrating enough for me to sit him for a few games if I were Dusty. You don’t even see closers like Chapman often throw 0-2 hittable strikes, and Sneed isn’t in the same galaxy as that guy.

I didn't like them bringing in Sneed either, but Baker ain't the one only scoring 2 runs in 13 innings. The offense has to be more consistent, and they need some changes to their approach. We never seem to have a plan when we hit. Sometimes we take too much, sometimes we swing at the first pitch, sometimes we try to move a runner over, sometimes we swing so hard our whole body spins around.... I've said it before, I think our hitting coaches/advisors/metric guys are not very good. We've had some good offensive teams recently because we've had overwhelmingly good players that were good despite the coaching/support staff (and/or cheating?), but there is too much evidence of players leaving here and becoming very successful with new teams almost immediately.
Where we tend to make pitchers better than their old teams; we don't do that for our hitters. Who is the last hitter that we developed that wasn't already good when we got them or promoted them?

At the same time, I don't see why they have any faith in Sneed at all. The guy had one good season in A ball 5 years ago. He has never shown to be any legitimate prospect from what I can see. He had an ERA over 4.00 in the minors and he wasn't even that good of a pitcher in college. His rate stats are all "meh" at best (decent K rates but nothing special), and his WHIP has always been mediocre or bad.
I didn't understand why they called him up last year, and I don't understand why he is here now outside of desperation I guess?

I'm not the least bit surprised the bullpen's gone to pot after Hinch got shitcanned From the moment he got here he had the relief core whipped into shape, and I fully expect him to do the same with the next club he catches on with

I'm with you on the hitting coaches. Either they are incompetent or the players tune them out. You asked how many hitters have improved since we got them.......I can't think of one, but, i can think of some who have gotten better once they were with another team.....JD Martinez and Ben Zobrist. I am sure there are others. What we do is improve some pitchers once Strom gets them.........Charlie Morton and Gerrit Cole to name a couple. Then, we foolishly let Morton walk. For all of the accolades handed to Altuve,. he is perhaps the worst situational hitter on the team. He seldom goes with the pitch and normally tries to pull every pitch. He is too impatient and some pitchers are finally realizing they don't have to throw strikes to get him out. How many times has he gotten himself out by swinging at the first pitch no matter where it was? We have a guy like Straw with blazing speed who never gets on base unless being used as a pinch runner. Why can't our hitting coaches teach him to hit line drives, ground balls, or to bunt instead of mostly hitting weak fly balls? Hitting was awful last night but there is no excuse for Baker bringing in Sneed to close the game. Castellanos had only pitched one inning and showed he could get out of trouble. Sneed hasn't shown he can do a damn thing besides give up runs. He was one pitch away from closing the game until he grooved an 0-2 pitch to Allen. Honestly, as soon as they said Sneed was coming in, I put the game in the loss column. Baker has allowed him to blow leads in the last two games. Yes, the hitting is weak right now, but, Dusty Baker is a pitiful excuse for a manager.

If Crane had a damn bit of sense, he'd fire Baker at the end of the season and try to re-hire Hinch. His pride won't allow him to even consider it.

After winning 100 games three seasons in a row, he's pretty much been treated the way the Jets treated Bill Belichek 20 years ago They hired Belichek to be their head coach in 1997, then subsequently demoted him so Parcells could take the job after he changed his mind about retiring Three seasons later the Jets re-offered Belichek the job after Parcells became their GM. Belichek said screw you guys I'm taking the job with the Patriots Hinch would do the same I guaran-dam-tee-it

I’m not usually a proponent of saving face, but that would make Crane and the Astros look extremely weak and make them even more of a laughingstock than they are already.

It should’ve been okay because Strom is a god and all. only folks who say that about Strom were the minor league instructors. He shows them the data, and says this is where you locate in this particular count with this particular pitch It's still up to the pitcher to locate with the same release point and same delivery, and a brain in his head knowing he has to do it with consistency and not be a flake on the mound
