Win or lose here Devenski's our best high-leverage reliever

27 pitches. arm's pretty tired. I'd put a fresh arm out there. Even Sipp's, honestly.

Well, it was fun while it lasted, Peacock.

Well coming into it, it was going to be tough beating Greinke... but another ugly way to lose a game! I guess nearly every reliever has had his turn at blowing up in the 9th now.

The three relievers I've been bragging about all made appearances tonight and we lost. Back to the drawing board ...

If we were to blame anybody for this loss, blame Altuve or Correa. You can’t pin this one on Hinch.

We have lost 4 games this week.........the pathetic excuse for a bullpen has coughed up THREE of them. Offense battles back to tie the game and Devenski can't get the job done. We don't have anyone right now who can finish a game.

Herrera: 11 appearances, 6 saves, 0 blown saves, 0.71 ERA over 12.2 IP, WHIP 0.63
I'm sure he will blow a save 15% of the time or so. But the other 85% of the time he would make us happy. Having Herrera do the 9th in winnable games would take the pressure off the other guys and improve their numbers.

I forgot to mention about Herrera this year: 14 K's and 0 walks.

This bullpen is not going anywhere without fixing Peacock. He’s been so hittable recently. You’d figure that the World Series prepared them for all kinds of high pressure situations, but they all seem almost less prepared this season, and I’m not just talking about the relievers either. The only improvement has been for overall starting pitching.
Luhnow better find some answers before the gap between themselves and other rivals widens.

His peripherals were looking bad even before yesterday's game. I was hoping the peripherals were lying and that Peacock was still the same reliever we saw last year. Maybe not. If so, it just bolsters the case for going after Herrera and perhaps another reliever. Raisel Iglesias would be great (and a lefty) but I'm afraid he would be prohibitively expensive. Same with Brad Hand. Corey Gearrin, a righty, might be available and affordable though.

I hope Luhnow doesn't try to fix this bullpen before things get out of hand. I think Peacock's problem can be straightened out. That is up to Strom. As for Giles, he's a head case and needs to be moved. Devenski is not a closer, but, a decent set-up guy. Harris is dead weight and should be used as a mop up. Go get Herrera if possible. A good lefty wouuld be a plus.I get sick of hearing about how great Devenski is against lefties . If Hinch can't depend on Sipp.......and he can't.....get rid of him and stop taking up a roster spot with him.

The offensive stars have to do more. Period. 0-9 is unacceptable.

The offensive stars have to do more. Period. 0-9 is unacceptable. i agree that the hitting has to pick up,but, we also need a bullpen that can hold a lead or keep us in a tie until we can take the lead. Twice this week, the offense battled back to either tie or take the lead and the bullpen came in and blew the game. This has to stop.

I think A.J.'s gonna have to invoke his Starters Only WS strategy 127 games early huh? Unless a couple of trades are made or there is a guy at AAA who can come up, he will have to do that. Running Harris, Smith, and Giles out there won't get it done and Devenski is not a closer. Giles has closers stuff but a two cent brain. I think Strom can get Peacock turned around. McHugh is doing a good job in relief.

Why not bring Rondon back out to start the 9th. He was working on 3 days rest and only threw 7 pitches to retire the Dbacks in order in the 8th. His career numbers against the first three Dbacks batters in the 9th inning are good. This was yet another example of a pitcher who pitched effectively in the 8th inning...his only inning pitched...being replaced unnecessarily to start the 9th and having his replacement(s) be off that day resulting in a loss for the team.

I think that's twice this season where Peacock has come in...thrown one pitch and the game was over. The first was a walk off HR in Minnesota.
