Morton vs. Greinke
Greinke has been solid in 3 of his 6 starts this season, and pretty bad in the other 3.
He's gone an average of 6 innings per start in spite of throwing an average of only 90 pitches per outing. Part of the reason for his efficiency: 67% of his pitches are in the strike zone. As a corollary of this trait, he has only given up 4 walks in his 36 innings of work this year. This means that the Astros probably shouldn't try to be patient at the plate and work a walk. That strategy will most likely lead to being called out on strike 3.
66.4% of the time, the first pitch a hitter sees from Greinke is in the strike zone, so the Astros may want to take a chance and hammer that first pitch.
Astros will want to load up on the lefty bats for this game. LHH are slugging .852 OPS against Greinke this year. Reddick, Marwin, McCann, and Fisher all hit from the left side so they might all get a chance. If Gattis plays at all, it will probably be to pinch hit for a pitcher. He has been utilized very seldom in recent games and I kind of wonder if he isn't on his way out.
Hinch will be able to call on any of the 8 relievers he likes should Morton not go the full 9. Not that he is expected to.
May the wind be at the Astros' backs today. Go Stros!

I don’t like this matchup. The Astros typically struggle against Greinke, and they don’t build on momentum that easily. I hope it works out well for our boys.

Greinke is a true headcase. Get to him early and he's done.

The Diamond backs seem to have a few holes in their lineup as well.

Greinke is a true headcase. Get to him early and he's done. I have respect for him for overcoming depression and getting this far in his career. So many in his position just hit a downward spiral and never recover. That being said, I hope we beat his ass today.

Greinke is a true headcase. Get to him early and he's done. that has been his history. In a matchup of him and Morton, at this point, I'll take Charlie. Loading up on left-handed hitters means we should be spared looking at Gattis and Marisnick. Poor Jake can't catch a break........Dyson stole a home run from him last night. When you are going bad, things like that tend to happen.

If possible, we should send Jake to AAA and send Fisher with him. Bring up White and Kemp

Is he cheating to increase his spin rate? He is cheating, so he thinks everyone else is cheating....Or it is the old deflection strategy..

Is he cheating to increase his spin rate? Of course he is. There's no other explanation, is there? Just imagine...

Is he cheating to increase his spin rate? I think we need to thank that Cleveland pitcher for helping our pitchers get into the opposing team's head's. Mike Scott made a career of doing that in the mid '80's.

Two straight walks to start the game by Charlie. Not good.

Three straight walks to start the game. Charlie can’t find the strike zone. Get McHugh up.
