1. So mlbtraderumors.com and Fangraphs has us finishing with an 89-73 record and winning at the AL West. 2. CBS has us at an over/under of 87 Wins. 3. PECOTA has us at 93-69 with a 72% odds of winning the division.
Where do people think we line up?

I also think that even with the loss of Springer the offense will be better.

But I don't think the pitching will be able to keep up as well to get us over 90 wins.

I wonder how many of those are people that just hate the Astros though... I think the Astros win the AL West with somewhere between 88-92 wins, If I was certain we'd get Framber back by the All-Star break, I'd say around 95 wins. I expect great years from Correa and Tucker, plus comeback seasons from Altuve and Yuli. Brantley will put up his usual good numbers. The key is the starting pitching. We have some young guys who will either continue to produce or let fan noise get to them when opposing fans start booing us , and, we know the booing is going to come. We have some young pitchers who can go either way. How they perform will determine how well we do.

Astros win the West with 92 wins. That is about where I put them. Uncertainty about the pitching kept me from going to at least 95 wins. I think 88 wins will take the division. The A's are weaker and I still don't think the Angels have the pitching to win it. The Mariners and Rangers aren't in the conversation.

If Yordan is healthy and the others don't repeat their sub-standard 2020 seasons. The collective offense could easily be better than it was last year.

If Yordan is healthy, we should be better. The thing that guarantees it is if Altuve, Bregman, and Yuli have comeback years.

He stepped up in the playoffs when Bregman and Yuli totally disappeared and his defense was outstanding.

Eh, Bregman had a bad ALCS but he dominated the ALDS, and, while he had a down year for him, he still had an above-average year compared to the rest of the league. Yuli stunk all around.

That's just instinctive "omg the Astros cheaeeeeeaeeeeted" Probably some of that. Maybe some "omg, the Astros are like the Dodgers and Red Sox, tryna buy a WS." Maybe some "omg the Astros are paying JV $33MM and he won't even be able to pitch." Maybe some "omg, the Astros came in second during the covid-shortened season and since then they've lost a ton of talent."
I think at the end of this regular season, you'll be able to throw a blanket over the A's, Astros, and Angels. I'd like to think the Astros will win the division. But I wouldn't risk a dime, betting on who'll win the AL West.

Bregman and Yuli both disappointed in the regular season where Altuve was the biggest disappointment with the bat when he slipped to a .219 average. He redeemed himself at the plate in the post-season. Yuli stayed terrible and Bregman followed a good ALDS by stinking up the ALCS.

I'm thinking the Astros do make the playoffs. I'm just hoping that Verlander and Valdez, come playoff time, will be able to pitch for us. Framber seems more likely than Justin, imho. Verlander went under the knife on September 30 of last year. One year recovery and rehab is ambitious. I reckon he'll do what he can to be ready for October, but there's little certainty about whether he'll be ready, how well he'll be pitching, or how many innings he'll be able to endure in each start. Cross your fingers and hope for the best.

He may be about done; we’ll see.
