If Luhnow hadn't traded Hader for Gomez and Fiers, Click's job would have been easier. I hope they at least make a run at Verlander. We all agree on the Hader trade. It sure would be nice having Verlander pitch tomorrow, wouldn't it? Yeah, I think I'd take him over Luis. LOL On another note, after some of the stuff I'm reading and hearing, I may have to change my mind about the players wanting Dusty back. If we win the WS, it would be hard not to bring him back.

Just give the mf'er his gold watch, and thank our stars we were lucky as "F"., and won it like the proverbial blind squirrel found the nut.

Would everyone take this trade-off? Win the World Series this season but Dusty comes back next year. Which means we will still be good next year, probably make the playoffs, but another WS title is probably not possible.

If Dusty continues to manage the pitching well and we win a WS, he'll deserve some credit.

If Dusty continues to manage the pitching well and we win a WS, he'll deserve some credit. I can agree with that. My concerns about Dusty have always been his history of mismanaging his pitching. In this series, he has done a pretty good job. The only big mistake I think he has made was starting McCullers in game 4 in Chicago when it was a non-elimination game.

How long are you going to complain about a series win?

I said I "may" have to change my mind about players wanting him back. I never said I wanted him back. But, how many times has a manager whose team just won the WS been told to clean out his office and leave? Around here, you are not allowed to change your mind or have a change of heart. If you do, you are a "flip flopper" or a hypocrite. LMAO.

Look I have always thought Dusty should never be the Manager of young Pitcher. Everyone he has managed that had great potential he has ruined. Yes, if LLoyds of London would even take that call I would expect a young pitcher to do that

Jon Gray would be a great pickup if he doesn't get a qualifying offer attached to him. The stuff profiles well with the Astros' philosophy, coaching from us + getting out of Coors could turn him from a #3-4 type to a good #2. If you could get him for 3-4 years at about $10 million per, there's a very good chance he ends up worth twice that with us, and he's still be under 35 on the last year of his contract.
That's the kind of guy they might target if they did end up resigning Correa and needed to be frugal on pitching help.

I don't think Gray would sign for $10M a year, but I would be for going a 4 year deal, at $15M or less per year. Robbie Ray, the other guy I hope the Astros go after, is going to get paid. 4 years+/$100M+

Robbie Ray, the other guy I hope the Astros go after, is going to get paid. 4 years+/$100M+ I would think Gray's numbers would improve by getting away from Coors Field, and, Ray would be a solid, lefty starter. If the Bluejays are trying to wink I'd think they would offer Ray a good contract to stay. Both of those guys would be solid additions to our rotation. Both are just 30 so a 4 year deal would be a good offer for either of them. If I had to go after one of them, it would be Ray.

I don't see any reason why Gray would get much less of an offer than McCullers got. Lance is better, but Gray has been healthier.

Carlos Rodon is also a free agent that should get a lot of attention, and, one we should look at in addition to Ray as an option to add another left-hander to the rotation.

Rodon was one of the players a little vocal about our past transgressions. I don't expect him to have much interest in signing with us.

I'm sure it could, but do we really want to likely overpay for that? I'd rather give the money to players that DON'T require extra to convince them to come here.

I'd rather give the money to players that DON'T require extra to convince them to come here. I just mentioned him as an option, and, because, when healthy, he can dominate as he did against us earlier in the season. I'd rather sign Ray, but, will we have to outbid Toronto and other teams and overpay to get him? We will probably have to overpay to a certain degree to get the type of starter we need. I would prefer to sign a guy we could be in the top 3 in our rotation. We have no idea about the future of Odorizzi with this team. Preferably, I"d trade him to someone needing a starter to get a top reliever in return.
