Boyd vs. Odorizzi
6-4
The offense has got to get going earlier, and hopefully Odorizzi has a nice debut with us. We officially fell into 2nd place for the first time this year. Hopefully it will be the last time, but they need to wake back up.
I'm worried Bregman is playing hurt.
That 0-11 with RISP yesterday can't happen again. Our 1-7 hitters are all .789 OPS or better. There's really no excuse for that poor of hitting with RISP.

I saw more weak at bats last night than I have in a long time. Yuli and Kyle seemed to be the only ones with a clue before Brantley's home run which was too little too late. Correa and Altuve both stood and looked at pitches they should hit and then struck out on pitches out of the zone. Altuve couldn't have hit the pitch he struck out on with a boat paddle. And, for Dusty to allow Maldonado to bat in the 9th was telling the Tigers he was waving the white flag. If there is a more pathetic hitter in baseball right now than Maldonado I haven't seen him.

Not because of his hitting. His range at 3B and how careful they're being with him. The offense is just in a slump collectively. Individually 1-7 are having good starts to the season (some really good), but they're just not getting anything going together like they were initially.

If Bregman is still being bothered by the hamstring, put him on the IL and try to get it healed. Play Diaz at 3B and recall someone. Playing Bregman at all, if he is injured, is risking him being out long term.

Move Tucker to CF and give Straw a mental break.

On another note, I see that Castro is in the lineup tonight. He won't do any worse with the bat than Maldonado.

They're obviously not concerned about maximizing the offensive production with the catchers. On a side note, since leaving us and our hitting coaches, Stassi is a goddamn maniac at the plate. .292/.371/.538 .909 OPS since becoming the full-time starter last year.

Another example of a player hitting once he leaves us. He was horrible with us and I wanted him gone. I wish to hell we had him back, but, if we had kept him he probably still not be hitting. When will they wake up and see that our hitting instructors are incompetent.

Odorizzi looks good......Good at bat by Straw to drive in Yordan. Two pitiful at bats from Jose. First time up, taps a weak ground ball to third to get out on the first pitch and then strikes out looking with two RISP. He is NOT a leadoff hitter......no patience and no plate discipline. The problem is we have no true leadoff hitter. Castro would have walked if he didn't chase a slider at least a foot off the plate.

Ugly AB, Jose. Gotta do more there. It was as if Boyd toyed with him. Gotta put down that three-run Jack swing and go for a bloop hit.

Expected batting average on the homer was .200. Would have been in-play in all other parks.

Tigers hit three opposite field homers. If we hit one it's an accident.

It is hard to understand how and why this team that hammered the ball on the road and started the season 6-1 can do a complete turnaround and be absolutely pathetic at the plate. Our pitchers have given up homers in bunches to the A's and Tigers at home while our offense struggle.
It is obvious that Dusty has given up when he sends MALDONADO to the plate in the 9th with two runners on base to PINCH HIT FOR JOSE ALTUVE. I don't care what his excuse was. That had the be the DUMBEST move by a manager that I have seen in years. Dusty Baker keeps showing why he never should have been hired.

I can't believe some of the questions these reporters ask the players in the post game press conference. Some idiot just asked Straw if he was surprised to be pulled in the 6th inning and be replaced by McCormick. I guess the idiot expected Myles to throw Baker under the bus for the move. Some of these reporters need to find a new line of work.
