Only reason Dusty's upset about Myles being traded, is Dusty is the one who worked so hard with Myles to improve his bat and glovework while he was in the starting lineup. When one dedicates himself to a project just to see the guy get traded out the door, naturally there'd be a residual feeling your effort was wasted And to see him get traded for an average reliever instead of addressing the more problematic starting rotation must have been disheartening for Dusty. I wasn’t a fanboy of Straw like Thomas or others, but I liked the potential of having a solid defender and an actual speed guy in the lineup instead of seeing poor runners on base helplessly watch as hitters tap grounders to infielders and erase them on double plays. As we know I was a Straw fan. I really liked what his speed and defense gave the team. His OB was increasing (starting to reflect his minor league stats), he was scoring more runs. After his rough beginning, after April if I remember correctly, he was deemed the best defensive CF in baseball. But Straw is not a Click guy. Does Click want High OB, yes, and Straw's was increasing very well; albeit, he also wanted High SLG, and Straw is not that guy. Click places enormous value on relievers, and the Astros covet high spin rates. Maton is elite for pitchers with high spin rates. Plus, he is under team control until the 2024 season. Even though I hated the trade, and it didn't make sense to me; however, it's Click"s team, and it mirrors his value strategy/philosophy. BTW, Straw's slash line is .289/.365/.408, since being traded to the Indians,

I’m hoping we also got a possible catcher for the future in the trade for Straw. Yainer Diaz has put up some pretty good numbers in his minor league career so far. For his career he is batting.319 with a .817 OPS. He just got promoted from Low A to High A ball. In his first 2 games at High A he is 2-7 with 2 HRs, has walked twice and struck out twice. He has thrown out 31% of runners attempting to steal this season. He is ranked as the Astros #14 prospect in the latest MLB.com rankings.

I too was a big fan of Straw. Have been all through his minor league and major league career. That said, I think Jake Meyers is going to prove to be the better player overall. I think he takes over in CF and pushes Chas to 4th outfielder slot next season.

My guess he's tired of the team playing poorly, or corch needling him every day. Probably a little of both

How do you know how hard Dusty worked with Straw on anything? This shows that Dusty's opinion doesn't carry much weight with front office. LOL LOL Why are you hating on another coach? I am not "hating" on anyone. I'm just stating my opinion of Dusty as a manager. We have seen nothing to make us believe that Dusty had "invested" time in Straw at all. If he was consulted before the Straw trade was made, voiced his disapproval, and, Click went ahead and made the deal anyway, it shows that Click placed little value in Dusty's opinion. Keep in mind that Crane.....not Click......hired Dusty. Click is trying to build the type of bullpen here that they have with the Rays. The Rays are being extremely successful going that route so maybe we should give it a shot. What Click did at the trade deadline was the first time that I had confidence in what he was doing. Dusty has lost at least two games for this team since the deadline by not going to available bullpen pitchers acquired by Click and continuing to use the ones who made it necessary to rebuild the pen. Case in point.....bringing Taylor into the game in KC to cough up a two run homer when we had guys in the pen with strikeout stuff available. He actually had Raley up yesterday to bring in if Stanek hadn't gotten out of the 8th. It's as if Dusty is telling Click he didn't need to trade Straw for Maton, who pitched two perfect innings in relief of Garcia which got us to Stanek and Pressly. Meyers and McCormick have proven to be better than Straw. I don't think we got enough for Straw but things seem to be working out. Disagreeing with the coach or manager doesn't indicate "hate". It means I think he is a lousy manager and I stand by that. He has a history of misusing pitchers and costing his team games which is why he has never been to a WS. The Nats fired him for that reason and won the WS while Dusty sat at home out of work. The scandal broke and Crane hired Dusty as a PR move.

I think he takes over in CF and pushes Chas to 4th outfielder slot next season. You nailed it again. Depending on how he continues to hit, he could take the starting spot in CF this season. Having both of them gives us a strong OF. I was impressed with Straw's progress and didn't like the trade when it was made. After seeing Meyers, I understand why Click thought he could trade Straw. Meyers is definitely the better player and Chas is right there with him.

I think there is a good chance that he does. No doubt in my mind that he does if Correa leaves this offseason. Even if Correa stays, Leon might represent immeasurable value to the Astros. I'd like to see him learn at least one more infield position if he isn't an everyday SS. But just SS and OF would be enough. Creating a Diaz MkII could be an awesome thing. One more player you can plug into numerous defensive positions while having a decent bat in the order. That keeps the everyday players fresh and provides some insulation against injuries.
