I take exception to that statement. Just because I do not like your boy Fisher does not mean I turn on guys that do not need a butt thumping. I feel like it has been more than just Fisher. In any case, it was mostly meant good natured-ly. Mostly Well in a mostly good natured manner here is a rebuttal and the facts; I got onto Gurriel because he strolled over towards the rail like a beer league softball player, not a guy who makes 10mm a year. I got onto Marisnick, enough said. I got onto Gattis not because he is not trying but because his performance is headed down hill and does not have the mental makeup to do the job that management has assigned him. And I got onto Sipp, again enough said. The rest of the guys I think are hustling and are playing hard and deserve to be here, along with White, Davis, and Kemp.

So, factually, it went from just Fisher to 20% of the team. Got it!

I want to see extended version of that in slower motion with some type of sound effect. I bet Ashitaka could do it. Speaking of which, why isn't he here? I invited the nerd, but you know how antisocial he is.

So, factually, it went from just Fisher to 20% of the team. Got it! Now if you want to do this I will oblige you. I did not say that Gurriel should be sent down, I said he should be sat down and guess what he was. Everyone knows that Marisnick needed to be sent down and guess what, he was. Most everyone on this board knows that Gattis does not handle the role of dh. People are always mentioning the fact that his stats are better as a catcher than as dh. I may be a little hard on Fisher but his defense is not what it should be and his arm is weak. He can hit and I do think that he would benefit from a little more seasoning. Long term he is a major league player on just about any team. Sipp has no place on this team and I really find it curious that he is still here. So factually I never said it was just Fisher that needed to addressed that is you taking a single post and trying to paint something that is not there. My comments have been clear on all these guys. When someone does well I say it, when someone screws up I say it and more importantly I do not turn on guys on the drop of a hat as you implied. When I make a mistake I admit it. I do not engage in creating a circular argument in an attempt to prove myself correct if I am not. As a fan I think Houston deserves to have a winner. To everyone who suffered through all those years we deserve more than a one year wonder. What my experience tells me is that if you accept a half assed effort that is what you will get. Those guys were delivering exactly that and in some cases it was due in my opinion to complacency or perhaps a sense of entitlement. I say what I mean and mean what I say and I do love to debate. So if you want to defend any of those guys that I mentioned drive on.

You have to be careful attracting posters. If you cast too wide of a net, you might come up with someone like me.

We've been pretty lucky avoidng injuries so far. Both hitting and an injury bug are due. I just hope we get the hitting and miss the injuries.

You can want whomever gone, benched, demoted, that you want. My point was that you want all of that for several players, so it was a joke that you would want that for Verlander after a bad game.

So maybe I was a little thin skinned there.
Believe me though my frustration was with the fact that there did not appear to be any repercussions for a perceived lack of hustle. When the Astros sucked I said nothing other than do not waste opportunities to get better. But when you have talent it is up to management to get the most out of it. They just seemed to wait about a week too long to demonstrate consequences for the behavior in my mind.

But I think at that level they're not as quick to jump to moves/punishments/whatever since so much time and money is invested in the players. (Even the bad players.) For us, we just think about winning. They're looking at more than just that.

I read some criticism about Gurriel. Did I miss something?

I loved Hinch keeping Verlander in to face Cozart when a homer would’ve meant a loss. That’s a great manager/starter dynamic there. Honestly I trust a tired Verlander not to give up a walkoff homerun more than I do a fresh and rested Giles. Rest easy, old man. He’s Canada’s problem now.
