At long last, no. 200 for our hero. Congratulations to him. Hung in even without good stuff to get the win.

Hopefully this helps him relax some.

Hopefully this helps him relax some. It should. With him being the competitor that he is, I'm sure he was putting a lot of pressure on himself to produce due to the injuries that has hurt our run production.

Currently on pace for:
16-10 219 IP 289 Strikeouts .94 WHIP 2.73 ERA
Most years he'd be a pretty easy CY winner with those numbers (and he'll still likely end up in the top-5), but I don't see it this year unless Sale, Bauer, and Kluber continue to miss time and/or suck.

So in a full season's worth of work for Houston (35 Starts), Verlander's line looks this as an Astro:
19-9 2.47 ERA 291 Strikeouts 222 IP .896 WHIP 161 ERA+ 11.8 SO/9 6.5 WAR

Justin Verlander currently has 175 postseason strikeouts in his career. He needs 25 more to break the record held by John Smoltz.

It's easy to see why Detroit fans liked him so much. He's got some fire (but not obnoxiously so), he's durable, consistent, and you can see that he's a guy other guys want to be around/follow. I doubt he'll get to 300 Wins, but he reach 250 if he stays healthy, and 3000 Ks is certainly within his reach. Pretty cool that he should get his 200th win as an Astro. We haven't had many of those. (Just Nolan and Niekro?) I bet you he does reach 300 wins...

More likely 5-6.
