The bullpen blowing things isn't Odorizzi's fault.

I just didn’t like him mouthing off. I understand that athletes are highly competitive and a certain amount of egoism may be necessary, but when an employee calls out his bosses publicly he’s over the line. His actions scream, “me”. And it doesn’t matter to me that he only makes a modest SP salary; he makes more in a year than several hard-working people will make combined in a lifetime. He lost perspective. It’s not an unpardonable sin, but he’s a cog in a machine. He’d do well to remember that. Otherwise McDonald’s is hiring.
As for his pitching, he leaves too much stuff over the plate and doesn’t have great movement. I saw him get shelled against the Dodgers earlier in the year and the look on his face told me that he had no clue how to rectify the situation. The hitters are adjusting to him and he has no counter move.

The bullpen blowing things isn't Odorizzi's fault. It is Odorizzi's fault when the pen has to cover at least four innings in every game he starts.

The hitters are adjusting to him and he has no counter move. You nailed it when you said he comments sounded like it was all about "me". It is his fault when he hasn't shown he can be trusted to go over five, and, in some cases, fewer innings. I remember the Dodgers hammering him. We have had guys publicly criticize the manager and GM before. Most of them ended up finding a new place to play. Drayton shipped Wagner to the Phillies for criticizing him.

Graveman reinvented himself as a solid late inning guy. Why not Odorizzi. He is a professional, tell him what we are doing and why and then tell him to go earn his keep. I haven't seen anything from him that makes me think he could be a solid late inning guy. He isn't overpowering, and, is also a fly ball pitcher. The reason Graveman signed a 1.25 million dollar deal last winter is that no one saw anything in him to make them think he was a solid late inning guy. Everyone is talking and pretty much agreeing with the fact that he is solid the first and second time through the order and sucks after that. Sounds an awful lot like a long reliever to Meir perhaps a late inning guy.

If Odorizzi doesn't show he can go more than five innings, relief is where he will probably go if he wants to stay in the game.

I would not rule out Odorizzi being a good reliever. He may have to give it a try unless he can last longer in the rotation than he is now. Most starters have to pace themselves to a degree and not use all their bullets early in the game. A reliever knows he is working one or two innings and can empty the tank.
