What happened with Yordan and Siri last night? Dusty pulled another lamebrain stunt and removed Yordan in the 8th and replaced him with Siri in LF. There was no sign that anything was wrong with Yordan. You could tell by his expression that he was puzzled by the move as were Blum and Kalas. Pulling your top RBI guy, who was having a good night, in a tie game in the late innings was just plain stupid. But, we have come to expect brainless moves like this from Dusty. As luck had it in extra innings, Yordan's spot in the batting order came so instead of Yordan, Siri was due up. Dusty struck again and sent Diaz up to pinch hit for him and he promptly struck out. So, Dusty pulled Yordan and then used TWO players in his spot....Siri never got to bat and Diaz struck out twice replacing him. Dusty is compiling a list of clueless moves.......Before pulling Yordan in a tie game, his best was arranging his lineup so Maldonado would be the automatic runner in extra innings. LMAO. Dusty's level of stupidity continues to rise. I wasn’t a fan of the Yordan move, but the one on Siri made no sense at all.

Dusty probably remembered that Diaz had homered the night before so he put him in for Siri. Unless he's injured, you should NEVER remove your top power hitter and RBI man in the late innings of a tie game.

Maton was responsible for all 5 runs by only throwing 16 pitches. At least he was efficient.

Maton was responsible for all 5 runs by only throwing 16 pitches. That’s a shame. The announcers didn’t get to finish talking about his spin rate.

Maton was responsible for all 5 runs by only throwing 16 pitches. In his defense, the first hitter hit the ball off his foot and nobody could play it. The next guy hit a bloop double just inside the left field line. Then, Maton started to unravel by hitting the next hitter to load the bases with no outs. It all fell in at this point. Graveman came in and allowed a bases clearing double. Instead of working out of the jam, Maton caved.

Well, the idea is that people that do all of those well are generally the ones that produce well. It's the physics behind baseball success, generally. Not to rip off Ted Williams, but it's kind of the expanded Science of Hitting (and includes pitching).

It's just another number they flash on the screen or discuss during slow times. I don't mind those things nearly as much as I get tired of some of the "he's only the 2nd guy to hit 26 HRs with 7 SB and 43 RBI during the month of August at night time in the last 17 years" statistics. Who gives a shit about that?

Who gives a shit about that? Blum and Kalas are infatuated with spin rate, exit velocity, and launch angle. I totally agree with the rest of your post. I don't give a shit who hit 28 home runs in 2012. I know I'm old school, but, I laugh hearing them talk about starting pitchers who put our a full workload if they pitch around 200 innings. Some think 150 innings is a good year's work. LOL Starters used to work 300plus innings in a four man rotation and we didn't hear of all the injuries we see today. They didn't pay attention to pitch counts, either. I remember sitting in old Arlington stadium back in 1988 and watching Nolan Ryan pitch 10 innings in the first game of a DH, allow NO runs, three hits, and strike out 15. No doubt in my mind he made over 150 pitches.
