I know I know… I’m hoping Dusty’s gamble with Bregman will pay off like it did with Springer, but he didn’t suck for as long before his ‘17 breakout. Maldonado is the only regular position player on the Astros with a worse postseason OBP than Altuve. Jose does have 3 home runs though. Right now he is not concerned with making contact and getting on base. He is going for the home run with every swing. That is not the batter you need in the #1 slot. Maldonado is the only regular position player on the Astros with a worse postseason OPS than Bregman. Bregman is not the batter you need in the #3 slot. Kyle Tucker is the best all-around hitter on the team. He is also an excellent base runner. He is the guy who should be getting the most opportunities hit..., not Altuve. I would like to see Tucker in the #1 slot. Maldonado is the worst batter on the team in every category. I would like to see this batting order: Tucker Brantley Gurriel Alvarez Correa Altuve Bregman McCormick Castro This lineup is worth a try but you can bet your last dollar Dusty will keep Jose leading off and Breggie in the three spot. After all, we don't want to bruise any egos. Altuve and Bregman have both been basically useless and Correa hasn't been much better. Maldonado is an automatic out. There comes a time when you have to say that we need some offense and put Castro in the lineup. Dusty's only change in tonight's lineup was putting Siri in for Chas. |

Trying to be positive here, the last time our leadoff hitter went 0-for in Game 1 of the WS, he went on to be the WS MVP and we won. Springer 2017: 0-4 4 Ks (Astros win WS) Springer 2019: 2-3 (Astros lose WS) Altuve 2020: 0-5 3 Ks (Astros ----- WS) As long as he hits the ball hard... That would be a start... |
