Corch

As discussed with several respected members of this group, I allowed Corch to remain a participant on this forum through the end of the World Series. 

Now that the WS is over, I have banned his account. My private messages have been full of complaints about him for most of a year, at least. His combative, annoying, hypocritical, racist, repetitive, and ignorant nonsense will no longer be allowed here. As a respected member of this forum told me earlier today, there is no telling how many potential posters this forum has lost due to his behavior. He's correct...I have gotten feedback from several who couldn't believe we allowed him to behave as he does.

I can't allow it to continue. I won't allow it to continue. I let him have his time here until the WS ended, but no more...

If this gives anyone heartburn, feel free to let me know. I will hand over management of this forum to you and let you do as you please. Otherwise, here's to a quieter, more peaceful and collegial Astros forum.

I did not know that he was on such thin ice.  Back in the beginning of he forum,  I was at war with the guy.  But somehow we worked out our differences, as I came to the realization that Coach was a classical Myers Briggs "ENTJ" who seemed to speak (write) first before thnking through its implications.  Maybe that's why I may have cut the guy a little more slack than others. 

But if your contention that his behavior was hindering new membership was correct, then I think you made the right call.

Nobody can say that Corch was not informed that his behavior was unacceptable. Nobody can say that Corch was not given a fair chance to change before being banned. Corch’s response has been, “I’m not going to change. I’m going to do what I want to do. If you don’t like it, ban me.” Corch was never going to change. Corch was given ample opportunity to change, but he chose not to. Instead he repeatedly taunted Bortaz, daring him to ban him. He got what he asked for.

I'm indifferent to Corch. For years he's just a blowhard.. He actually got better, but the act was still tiring... It will be a breath of fresh air to not hear his relentless tirades on Dusty, Altuve, Bregman, etc. Then him fawning over his Ex-Astros MVPs: Springer and soon to be Correa.
So goes the Assman.

The Forum was alive before him and will be alive after him.  I would agree that his constant bickering with everyone created a hostile environment for everyone.

I was almost daily having to delete or edit posts from him that put the forum in contravention of ProBoards TOS.I let him ride at a 99% warning level for most of this season. Unfortunately, I also let him push my buttons significantly, which led to bad behavior on my part...I apologize to the forum for that. I should have banned him long before we got to that point.

I'm not Coach, but I will not relent on my criticism of Baker. He's been on my shit list for 25 years, and if I need to banned for that so be it.

There's a difference between occasional posts vs it's basically a footer on all the posts.

It was given to him as he always was pushing the fact he was a retired Coach (HS) and acted like he knew more than everyone else because of it early on. He got called out and would never tell what School or area.  So it was a play on Coach

I'm not Coach, but I will not relent on my criticism of Baker. He's been on my shit list for 25 years, and if I need to banned for that so be it. 

I think outside of Abregmanfan and Bear, No one else was actually a fan of Dusty being the manager.
I thought it'd be perfect for the Astros if they won the World Series, and Dusty retired, his Swan Song.
But that didn't happen, and it would look really bad on the Astros part now if Dusty wants to be re-signed, and they said no.
I think overall Dusty did a better postseason managerial job than Hinch. Dusty's team talent was not as good as Hinch's, And he didn't botch a World Series like Hinch did. Why Hinch is given so much praise, is 2017 Game 7 WS. And I'm not saying that Hinch is a bad coach, not by any means. I think he's going to be good for the Tigers.

I never called him out on it, but I was always a little skeptical that he was a HS coach given his demeanor. We had coaches like that 50 years ago (abusive), but that era is long gone.

I think many of us (myself included) fell into that trap. So I apologize too.

I can't speak for the owner of this forum but it seems to me as long as you don't attack others who have a different point of view, you should be allowed to voice your opinion (within reason).

I'm not a Baker fan but so long as he's the manager, I'll support him in general and criticize decisions he makes that I disagree with.

That's a practical and even handed approach to the subject.  OTOH, I am terribly prone to holding grudges.  I recognize that as a character flaw, but there isn't a damn thing I will or will want to do about it.

I wouldn't say I'm a fan of Dusty. He did a better job than I thought he would when the season started, and I think he proved he's a good fit for the team despite his flaws

There are 2 reasons I support Dusty as much as I do.
#1- He is a true student of the game. He has put in his time to this great game. I hope we bring him back and win a Series.
#2- He is OUR MANAGER.

That is the beauty of a message forum that is not an echo chamber.  We all have difference in opinion. And I highly value yours.

On #1- Longevity is nice as long as there is a resume' of success.  Here is the scorecard on Mr. Baker-

1. Overall winning percentage regular season since 1993- .534.  Not exactly sterling for a top tier manager.
2. No of WS wins- zero for two
3. Post season record- 40-44. .476
4. The intangibles of his history of handling young pitchers can not be overlooked.  

On #2  Please don't rub it in.

Actually I didn't know you banned Marshall. I was more concerned with my political leanings which may not be in the spirit of the intent of the forum, but that which I do try to contain in "Off Topic". I have read the T & C's, and as far as I know, I have not crossed any lines yet.
