I was mostly indifferent to the guy and usually ignored him, but he was generally incorrigible. Narcissistic personality disorder (my guess) creates an inflated sense of self-worth, lack of empathy and inability to admit wrong-doing.
He had no effect on me posting or visiting the site; I don't let morons keep me from doing what I want to do. I did get a modest amount of entertainment from reading certain people on here attempt to argue/discuss things with him to no avail, knowing all the while that they were wasting their "breath". Life is much too brief to waste any of it arguing with idiots.
Although his presence didn't affect me, I can see how his bombastic style could be off-putting to others and I understand why it was done. I'm amazed it hasn't happened before now.

I don't mind some heated discussion, but his continued failures to keep race and other issues out of baseball debates grew tiresome. He was warned repeatedly.

I'm not Coach, but I will not relent on my criticism of Baker. He's been on my shit list for 25 years, and if I need to banned for that so be it. I think outside of Abregmanfan and Bear, No one else was actually a fan of Dusty being the manager. I thought it'd be perfect for the Astros if they won the World Series, and Dusty retired, his Swan Song. But that didn't happen, and it would look really bad on the Astros part now if Dusty wants to be re-signed, and they said no. I think overall Dusty did a better postseason managerial job than Hinch. Dusty's team talent was not as good as Hinch's, And he didn't botch a World Series like Hinch did. Why Hinch is given so much praise, is 2017 Game 7 WS. And I'm not saying that Hinch is a bad coach, not by any means. I think he's going to be good for the Tigers. This is an important fact. Hinch had FAR more talent toward the end, but no one can deny him getting the most out of that 2015 team. Dusty’s work has gone largely unappreciated with the terrible pitching he’s had to deal with save Lance, Pressly, and Framber (half the time). The bullpen has gotten much better without relying on Paredes so much, though.

I can't speak for the owner of this forum but it seems to me as long as you don't attack others who have a different point of view, you should be allowed to voice your opinion (within reason). I'm not a Baker fan but so long as he's the manager, I'll support him in general and criticize decisions he makes that I disagree with. Catfish is a little squeamish, I think, because I banned Marshall I don't know why he worries so much about it. I'm not easily offended, and have only banned maybe 5 people total (not counting spammers) (edit) like Catfish mentioned .. I'm not sure where the boundary is on political discussions

Covid-19:As a forum owner, you're keenly aware of the hard line ProBoards has drawn about misinformation related to Covid-19. This is an area where we need to tread especially carefully. Politics:This constantly affects our daily lives and is a huge segment of every newscast. It's no wonder it's prevalent in forums. Unfortunately few people are capable of discussing political issues in a sane and pragmatic manner. Mostly, forum discussions disgustions end up being exercises in poo-flinging and personal attacks toward others who don't share the same opinions. There's much to be gained by rational discussions about political issues when the participants have opposing views. Often the truth is found somewhere in the middle. But those discussions are usually spoiled by zealots. Regarding proper etiquette toward our elected officials, referring to our current president as 'Sleepy Joe' is probably not too far (and somewhat based in truth) although a bit derogatory. Referring to our current VP as a hooker was so far over the line it left propriety a tiny spot in the rearview mirror.

Exactly, and this is the exact same politically biased issue that you see at FB, Twitter, etc. That as a double standard, that is beyond hypocritical. Case in point?..... Browse Probard forums, and see what has been stated about Trump the past 4 years. I am no great fan of Trump, and voted for him while holding my nose. Still, there was a plethora of the vile and violence advocating posts against him that went unchecked by Proboard Management. Then add the fact that after baseball season things can get boring here. Is there really that much to talk about? I really like the folks here, and enjoy it. Hell...some of you I have known close to 20 years from the old MLB forums. And Bortaz is (was) one the very few I have been able find to have thughtful discussions around historical matters. Seems spicing things up around here with pithy banter might sustain the success of the forum. I can post mostly elsewhere if needed, and lurk. No skin off my Glutes. And as far as interpretive issues around T & C's, probably 95% of the hacks at Proboards don't understand what I am talking about anyway. I understand this is Bortaz' forum, so his rules, and I'll abide.

As I said (and the Yankee reiterated), the issue is idiots like Corch and Marshall always...always...go too far. The posts you mention about Trump didn't lead to consequences (that we know of) because they were not reported, most likely. But all it takes is one malcontent to report violations and we then find ourselves chatting on Reddit for want of a forum of our own.
Examples I had to delete: "Kill every muslim", "Every Mexican in America should be deported", "Kamala is a hooker", and a googleplex of posts that touched the edges of racism without coming right out and using the N-word. I could go on for hours with examples of shit I had to moderate. Marshall was banned because he continued to flaunt the PB policy against "misinformation" regarding Covid. He was warned multiple times, and each time spouted the ignorant belief that he had freedom of speech HERE (pro-tip: He doesn't).

The Houston Astros. I enjoy coming on here and reading what people have to say. I hardly touch on politics but don't mind reading peoples opinion as long as it doesn't cross the line. There is no room for true racism of any kind here. Every poster here brings something to the table.
