Slots need lovin too..... Oh no they don’t. You never had a good slot? You shouldn't ever overpay for a slot, but after couple of rounds, they're easy to pickup and easy to release later.

1-for-3, 2 BB, no Ks for Cerny. Yanier Diaz was 3-for-5 with another bomb. Enmanuel Valdez 2-for-5 with another bomb for him too. Valdez has 20 dingers in just 76 games this season. A hit and a walk for Dirden, and two hits for Joe Perez. Valdez has played significant time at 1B, 2B and 3B… some time in LF, bur just a few innings at SS. I would like to see him play more at SS for the remainder of this season to see if he can handle it. He could be a replacement for Diaz next season.

Pedro Leon has really turned it around in July. From April - June he struck out 88 times and walked just 37 times in 242 ABs. So far in July (prior to tonight’s game) he has struck out just 8 times and walked 14 times in 49 ABs.
He batted .230 in April, .223 in May and .218 in June. So far he is batting .306 in july. His OBP in July is .493 and his SLG in July is .490, I think the July Leon is the player the Astros thought they were getting when they signed him as an International FA. I think he is the Astros’ CFer of the future, I anticipate that either Chas or Meyers (maybe Dubon too) will be traded by the trade deadline this year and Leon called up.

I hope they keep Chas. He may not be the most athletic of the bunch, but he's been the most consistent. I think he is a perfect 4th OFer for a cheap price right now. He can play any of the positions, he can pinch run, and he's at least an average hitter at worst.

I think Meyers has more trade value and I think neither Meyers nor Chas is the Astros future in CF.

Yanier Diaz went 2-4 with a double and a home run for Sugar Land tonight. He is batting .296 with an OPS of .909 in July. He has 8 home runs in 90 AB since being promoted to AAA in mid-June.

Justin Dirden is scalding hot right now. 3-for-4 with a single and two doubles tonight. Eight of his last ten games have been with 2+ hits. Currently hitting .386/.469/.700 on the month.
J.C. Correa 2-for-5.

447 feet to the opposite field! So he is definitely a keeper? So Astros traded Straw for Diaz and some reliever?

I would think Jackson at this point would be a severe long shot Yeah, basically no chance for him. I think he was the backup plan; sign him if Clifford decided to go to college. I wouldn't be shocked if the other guy doesn't sign either, though. With the draft shrinking to just 20 rounds there are tons of guys you can sign as undrafted free agents and not have to give a significant bonus to.

Forget trading for a catcher, just call Diaz up.

Diaz ended up 2-for-5. Siri was also 2-for-5, with a bomb. Raise that trade value! Corpus currently down 15-1 rotfl next team. Chayce McDermott got tagged with 4 ER in 4 innings, but also had 8 strikeouts. He has 28 strikeouts in 13.1 innings this month (18.9 K/9 ) Strong outing for Alex Santos (74th overall pick in 2020). 4.0 IP, 1 ER, 1 H, 1 BB, 8 K
