And yes, that's Fernando Abad there, age 36, on the Mariners' AAA affiliate, trying to get back to The Show throwing a sub-50 junk ball.

Yanier Diaz with a 3-run home run for Sugar Land tonight. Get him in there for Maldonado. I’m tired of seeing Fatty not even bother to run out groundballs.

Diaz 1-for-2, a triple and two walks. Drove in a run as well.
Odorizzi pitched 3.0 inning for Sugar Land. Allowed 2 runs. After that Hunter Brown came in and did Hunter Brown things (5 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 0 BB, 5 K).
Colin Barber had two hits. He's hitting .310/.420/.488 for Asheville.
After getting promoted to Asheville, Kenedy Corona is off to a hot start. 1.042 OPS in 7 games.
Tyler Whitaker was 0-4 and that dropped his OPS south of .500. Looking totally overmatched. He played 3B though. That got me to look closer, and I discovered that he's played a bunch of different positions this year. Primary is right field, but he has 105 innings at shortstop, as well as some at third and center field. At 19 and learning to play four positions, maybe it's not such a surprise that he's struggling to hit so much.

Yanier Diaz is struggling right now at AAA with a .154 BA and .604 OPS since being promoted. I think he will break out soon. He is putting the ball in play. Has only K’d 3 times in 31 PAs, but his BABIP is just .130. That can’t continue.

If you take out his one bad start this year (5 ER in 4 IP against Round Rock) he has a 1.86 ERA. I can't fathom that they'll keep him down much longer. Wouldn't be surprised to see a SP dealt prior to the deadline to make room.

Click has a glut of SP’s and it’s slapping him in the face. For him not to trade any to improve the team significantly either for relief, C, or 1B would be a dereliction of his duties.

I really like the idea of bringing Brown up as a long reliever for the stretch drive. We can trade Urquidy for a bat and put Odorizzi back in when he is ready and then start giving guys a 10 day break when McCullers is ready. Then everyone will be fired up and ready to go come fall.

As I proposed before, I think this could be a good offer: Urquidy, Lee, Castro and an Astros 11-20 prospect for Contreras and Robertson.

I think if Click trades for a bat, it will be a corner outfielder. If we're gonna dangle Urquidy, Austin Hays has a comparable contract and could be a good match

We should be able to get him in the lineup fairly often even with fat boy behind the plate. Lee is a good defensive catcher but he just does not have the eye for hitting so vaya con dios amigo.
