Rough day for Chas... He's probably afraid Dusty will bench him again. Bet he gets the day off tomorrow.

I want Diaz to get a chance (Lee also), but every time I watch him he looks overmatched.

Boy, worried about Neris trying to go two shutout with the fake runner on.

Garbage. Torched the bullpen and still lost.

Who scored the 6th run?

Torched by Detroit at home. Used practically the whole bullpen for a loss. Definitely an early low point of the season...

Bregman single. Scored on Yordan fielder's choice.

Would have won the game if Hensley could have advanced Chas... This is the modern baseball I hate. Common sense says bunt the runner over or at least ground it to the right side. But bunt bad Hulk needs smash. Regardless of what Neris did, the game was lost there.

Buy bunt bad Hulk needs smash. Regardless of what Neris did, the game was lost there. I'm as anti-bunt as anyone, as there are very few situations where it statistically helps. But getting the game-winning run to 3rd ahead of a guy who doesn't strike out much is one of them. At the very least if you're going to swing, you need to shorten up and do everything you can to go the other way. But no one does that anymore. When was the last time you saw a guy choke up on a bat in a certain situation? Like a decade ago probably.

Hensley didn't need to bunt. He just needed to hit the ball to the right side like he had been doing.
That being said, if we're relying on a rookie utility guy to make the key play, our All-stars have failed.

Why one inning from Blanco, who is specifically supposed to be a 2-3 inning guy? That forced Dusty to then try to get a second-straight inning from Neris with the ghost runner out there. Sometimes Dusty's management feels so seat-of-his-pants.

It’s been a long time since I saw an Astros game in person where they lost. The streak ended tonight.

Sometimes Dusty's management feels so seat-of-his-pants. I don't disagree with that. In the end, so far it's the same issue as last year (which they overcame)...inconsistency from the offense. Some of that is lineup shuffling from Dusty, and some of that is 1 or 2 guys hit one day with the others not contributing much...and then a different couple of guys the next game. And the feeling of no Altuve is palpable. Very little "sparks" outside of Yordan and a little by Abreu.

Having the winning run gifted to you in scoring position and not putting yourself in a situation to win is inexcusable against a bad team like the Tigers.

But there were plenty of opportunities earlier as well. They scored six runs. The pitching failed them this time more than the offense in the 10th inning. Even Abreu gave up an oppo crush job to the tracks against a lefty.
